HTM1 tilted downwards In my Cabinet!! Good or Bad?

    Hi Everyone,
I have a large cabinet with all my equipment in it and the T.V. is in the middle of it all. The HTM1 is above the T.V. which is about two meters of the floor but, around less than half a meter above the T.V.
I therefore tilted the HTM1 downwards with a One Inch piece of wood wrapped in cloth ,so as not to harm the Cherry wood of the HTM1. The front cover of the HTM1 is touching the cabinet because the speaker is tilted forward by making the sound point downwards towards me in my sweet pot sitting area.
Is it wrong to tilt the HTM1 downwards or shall I let it stay normal without the aid of the piece of wood under the HTM1.? Shall I have tilted or not is the Question.??? :E
I found the that both ways they sound good except when it is tilted downwards the sound is in my face and directed to the sitting area ,but the other way was good too ,but the sound seemed as if it was over the head like watching a stage in your seat at the front of a stage but tilting the HTM1 speaker downwards makes the sound on the same level as the stage and is directly hitting me in the face and is talking to me.
Both sound different, but both sound good too. With HT tilted sounded excellent but with DVD-A I prefer the feeling as if you are looking up at a stage.
Can you all give me your opinion ,and is it good for the speaker to tilt it downwards or am I harming the HTM1?? ;x(
    Thanks for your kind help,

I don't think there is any harm at all in tilting the speaker down so it is pointing at your listening position as long as it is secure with no danger of slipping off its shelf. I tilt my CC6 using a rubber door stop. With other speakers, in the past, I have used pieces of styrofoam covered in wood grain contact paper. Without the tilt, the "sweet spot" for the center would be somewhere above your head.

I would recommend pointing it down. You will receive a
      better on axis response.

If the speaker is at two meters, a one inch block behind it
isn’t much, so it's not as if your over tilting it.

I keep my HTM1 on a stand just under the tv. I was happier with the overall performance.

Pointing down towards you is the right way to go. I use hockey pucks under the back of my HTM2D to point it down towards the listening position.

My mains are on stands since they are not floor standers; and the stands are angled upward at the front so as to put the tweeters (HF) at the ear level of my listening position. Off-axis is most apparent with HF, so I would think angling your center to match the intersection of the left and right front mains at your listening position would give the better result. Of course, much has to do personal preference, and what sounds best to you.

            Placement of the HTM1
            by Jeff
I have an HTM1 on loan from the dealer to go with my N802's. I was hoping to place the speaker on top of the TV with a special stand which I would mfr.
It's my hope to get center speaker off the floor and out of the way. I will add the speaker appears HUGE when sitting on the TV. Kind of unnatural...

FS-HTM HTM1 and HTM3S stand. Can they be tilted?
            by tdiciple
            Hi all,

I need some info regarding HTM3S or HTM1 stand. The FS-HTM. According to some website, they say that it can be tilted for between 0-8 degree. Is that correct?

Can anyone out there whom have the HTM3S verify this?

Also what is retail price for this...

Hi, first of all Happy New Year to everyone! Here's to a great year and spending more unreasonable amounts of money on audio gear!

I was wondering about speaker tilting. I read that tilting the speaker backwards a bit provides a broader and deeper soundstage. Has anyone tried this...

HTM stand question - How to tilt?
            by sikoniko
I got my htm stand for my htm1 as a dealer floor model and it was already assembled. I read somewhere that it is tiltable, but I do not see how. Can you tell me what I need to do to tilt the speaker up a little? My dealer said if I am missing any parts, he would get them for me.
