    B&W DM7s or 602 S3s?

I have the opportunity to buy some B&W DM7s. As we all know, they are B&W flagship speakers from the late 70s and early 80s. My father still uses them as his fronts.

I can pick them up for $300. Or I can buy some new 602 S3s for $600.

What speaker would be best? Let's even neglect price for a second.

B&Ws flagship from 25 years ago or B&Ws more entry-level speakers from today?

    HI,
I can't offer anything about your choices but I'd like to find out if you are right claiming the DM-7's were B&W flagship model. I don't believe that is true.

I think the 801's were already on the market by then and prior to that point B&W was marketing some very expensive and good and huge studio monitors. But I can't remember the model numbers.

What about it guy's and girls? Were the DM-7's ever at the top of the line? We need to keep out facts straight around here.

Is this for a stereo only setup? As if you want to go multi channel, then I'd advise getting the 602s3 so that you can add a matching center, and even rears over the long term. The 602s3 isn't likely to change for a good number of years.

        B&W 602 S3 vs. XT2
        by P1et
As much as I love my 602 S3s, I am thinking about upgrading to the XT2s. My wife and I have recently moved into a house with a smaller living room and we feel the 602 S3s are a bit too big.

What does everyone think of the XT2s? I have not seen too many reviews on them.

        Matching center to 602 S3s
        by Jon S
This is my first time posting here, but after reading so many of threads I'm more comfortable with my choice of 602 S3s to replace a set of Infinity RS9Bs that were 20 years old. After about 20-25 hours these B&Ws are really starting to open up.

Now I need a center to go with the...

        HTM7 a good idea in a 603/602 system?
        by FSonicSmith
My dedicated HT room (which I'm still in the process of completing) will have a Rotel 1056 receiver, a Denon 2910 DVD, two 603 S3s in the fronts, and 2 602 S3s in the rear. I am going to drive my fronts with a separate amp, a McCormack DNA-1, in order to free up the receiver's power supply (I already...

        Rotel RB-1080 + Rotel 1056 + B&W 602s3's?
        by shah
I just got myself to get a Rotel 1056 receiver. Stepped up from a Yamaha RX-V750 receiver. Heard a Big jump in sound quality. What do you think? Anyway.. I have a couple of questions about adding a 2 channel amp to my Rotel 1056. I had originally thought about adding a Rotel RB-1070 but reading...

        How should I upgrade my 602 S3s?
        by JasBW
I have 602 S3 bookshelves right now.. and love them. However, its time to upgrade.

Now... should I stay in the 600 line, and go to to 604? Or should I go to the 700 line and buy the smallest floorstander? Or.. buy the bookshelf 800 series? Considering I love all thier...
