    Mass Loading

Well, I've been intending to do this for a while, but I finally made my way down to the ol' gun store (thank god I live in Texas; there's one on every corner!) to pick up some lead shot for my front speaker stands. I added 50 pounds of shot to each stand and, lo and behold, it makes an absolutely HUGE difference! My B&W DM602s3 fronts have completely opened up with a much smoother midrange and a much more well-definied low-end. I was pretty sceptical before, but I'm now a believer.

I also went ahead and added a Panamax 5100 EX to the system... I can really tell a difference in my Plasmas performance as well... much less video noise.

Have any of you had similar positive effects from mass loading your speaker stands?

    -Ben

I kinda liked the high mass spiked speaker stands at PE, but was wondering if there is anything else out there. Color would have to be black-satin/piano...

Hi all. Great site and first time post for me. I picked up a Rotel RSX 1065 on the used market a couple of weeks ago. I also picked up a set of new B&W DM602s3 bookshelf speakers to go along with it. Everyone knows that Rotel and B&W make an excellent combination, or so I thought....

    Good speaker stands

I have Monitor Audio Gr-10 speakers, I just purchased some VTI speaker 24" stands. I filled the column with 40 lbs of #9 lead shot, so stand and shot are now about 55lbs, and the speaker is 22lbs. These stands hav spikes but I am still not getting a "rock solid" mount. I am wondering...

Hi there. I am thinking about getting some stands for my 805S which are currently sitting on bar stools...

My question is, how do the speakers attach to the stands (screws, velcro, etc). I have a young daughter and another one coming so I want to make sure my precious speakers are...
