adding mass to 805 stands to reduce floor vibration

i have heard most people use play sand from home depot to fill their stands, but does anyone know a good place to buy steel shot? i am trying to find a b&m store or someone on the internet with a good reputation. what size steel shot do people use? BB sized? i am under the impression that steel shot would be better but more expensive then sand.

i want to try and add as much weight as possible so the bass from my 805;s doesn;t get transferred to my hardwood floors, and to my neighbors. would a bunch of steel shot (25lbs per speaker) be the correct route to take?

Try a gun/ammunition shop. Some sporting goods stores that carry guns would probably have as well. I just use sand for my 805S stands...works fine, as long as it's clean (doesn't promote rust from the inside).

Hi there. I am thinking about getting some stands for my 805S which are currently sitting on bar stools...

My question is, how do the speakers attach to the stands (screws, velcro, etc). I have a young daughter and another one coming so I want to make sure my precious speakers are...

I've had several listening sessions with my new Aerial Acoustics 7B speakers and wanted to report on my impressions. One caveat: I'm not a professional equipment reviewer!

Zaph ZA5.3 MTM in a Steel Tube?
      by ---k---
Crazy idea time. I'm stealing this from a post at the PE Forum by Spasticteapot. He wondered about using steel tube for enclosures. I'm not sure if he did anything with it, because he had problems getting tube steel. I'm a structural engineer - I don't have problems getting tube steel. So, today I picked...

      Good speaker stands

I have Monitor Audio Gr-10 speakers, I just purchased some VTI speaker 24" stands. I filled the column with 40 lbs of #9 lead shot, so stand and shot are now about 55lbs, and the speaker is 22lbs. These stands hav spikes but I am still not getting a "rock solid" mount. I am wondering...

I have always had tower speakers but just decided to jump on a pair of NHT Classic Three bookshelf speakers. Now I need some sort of speaker stand -a topic I know nothing about.

A few questions if you don't mind...

The NHT Classic Three is 13.75" tall. What size...
