If you buy a PV1 sub you can have both in the same round cabinet.

B&Os icepower "digital" amp is the heart of this sub and the Rotel 1077. Generally though I do not think that people in the market for B&O's own gear would also be looking at B&W. Now BMW, thats a different matter for some of our 800 series owners around the place.
    Mac 8gb SSD Audirvana ->Weiss INT202 firewire interface ->Naim DAC & XPS2 DR->Conrad Johnson CT5 & LP70S-> Vivid B1s. Nordost Valhalla cables & resonance management. (Still waiting for Paul Hynes PS:M)
    Siamese

interesting question. I know both very well. When you say "these" speakers which ones are you refering too? B&O makes a few models.

Generally speaking B&O makes some of the best looking equipment, but its not audiophile stuff. I am a big believer that if I am going to put something in my house it has to look as good as it sounds. While in the end i may have comprimised some sound quality I end up with equipment that looks like art.

B&O fits into this catagory very well. The only problem I have with B&O is they are propietary meaning you can buy there speakers and hook them up to a regular amp. You can only use B&O speakers with B&O equipment...same goes for thier DVD player, sub, etc. The other issue with B&O is they are VERY fare behind in formats.

The previous poster is right about ICE power in the 1077 and PV1 sub and that B&O uses that tech in their active speakers. My friend has a whole B&O system and he spent about 60k (CDN) on it. I have a B&W FPM series and PV1 with a Rotel RSX 1067 (amoung other things). I paid a 3rd of the price he did for my whole system and my system looks almost as good (not quit as) and sounds sometimes better and sometimes worse.

One more positvie with B&O is its a cure for upgraditus....you cant upgrade becuase you can only use there stuff.

        B&O

        Thank for your comments!
I am just coming back from a B&O store, somewhat frustrated. Sound is not as impressive as are the design and the price tag. They are a very elegant minimalist piece of furniture and will enhance the look just of any room.
The speakers excel cilinders perform remakable well lounge music, but do not do well with latin music which is my main interest.
Their design is very European, quite impressive.

let me help you a bit. I agree with you about the sound and the look. You really want them to sound better for the price tag, but they dont.

If you want sound quality and looks have a look at these.

          B&W FPM series

          B&W XT Series

          B&W PV1

If you like you can do what I did and place all of your AV equipment in a B&O AV rack.

Sounds like you might be looking for great sound from a smaller system. I'm not a B&O fan, but I believe they do exactly what they intend (cater to an audience that wants good sound with great looks and simplicity).

You may want to try Lynn . They make smaller equipment than most, and still have a great sound. Lynn was definitely one of my top picks. I did not choose their equipment only because I prefered the sound of another brand. It was *not* a quality issue whatsoever, just personal taste.

              B&O?
              You pay for : -

              THE NAME
              THE LOOKS

You dont get the sound - which is presumably why you got the stuff in the first place.

              However - 100% WAF.

                B&W PV1, to be replaced ?
                by alebonau
I'm noticing the B&W PV1 disappearing off retailers websites, a few years old now too. Wondering does anyone know if this model subwoofer is going to be replaced with a new model ?

would think it an ideal match for the new pm1 standmount.

if going to be replaced be...

                Rotel 1068 pre-amp and 1077 amp driving B&W 804S
                by Hugemongo
Got this new set up, am bi-amping the front two B&W 804S but am needing quite a lot of juice (about 70-75) before the sound picks up enough to fill the room convincingly to be a good sound....

Is this a result of the underpower of the 1077? Anyone else seen lower volume levels capable...

So we would try to check how it sounds in normal not threated living room (u know my room from pictures i posted), and to find if it's worth to pay extra for 803s or maybe 805+sub (relatively cheap...
