805S or SCMS for surrounds

Hi,

I have finally decided to go with a pair of 803s and a HTM3s. They will be used 70% for HT and 30% for 2-channel music. I am not sure what to choose for surround speakers... and need some recommendations. I am debating between 805s and SCMs since that is what fits my budget. My problem is that we will build a house in a year or so, and I am not totally sure about the layout of our media room. Should I take that into consideration and wait until the house is done? Or should I just pick the SCMs since I am primarely going to use them for HT?

Daniel,

Go with the SCMS with confidence either way with the layout of your media room.... They (to my ears and by B&Ws recommendation) sound virtually identicallty to the 805S with a little better bass in room due to the wall placement... They will also give you greater flexibility for suround mounting than the 803S which have curved backs and are not designed ot be wall mounted... The 805S are more designed for free air placment on stands - which is unliekly in most media rooms...

Regarding the media room layout, I am looking for a room roughly 3.5*6.5 meters. Would the 803s be too much for a room that size?

Not at all - they will work well in smaller rooms than that...

How will you be placing them?

That's too early to say, I have to build the house first . But, I am hoping to have enough flexibility with the 3.5 meters in width.

The HTM3s will go below the screen, or optionally behind it since I am planning on upgrading the screen. I have not designed the front of the theatre yet, but want to get the equipment already now so I can enjoy it longer .
