I am the proud new father (excuse me, "owner" ) of a pair of 803D's with an HTM2D center. To say I'm happy with them is an understatement. Euphoric would be more accurate. I'm a little worried because I am now talking to myself when I play music. I find myself repeating out loud words like "unbelievable" and "incredible". I upgraded from a set of 604's and the difference could be conservatively described as significant.
At any rate now I'm searching for the proper amps to make them sound even better. My stereo salesman is strongly recommending the new Linn Chakra line. They sound very detailed but a little harsh in the upper end to me. I've never heard this line mentioned on this forum before. Mcintosh and Halcro are other ideas.
I phoned B&W and they said that whatever I get should put out "at least" 300wpc to do justice to the 803D's.
Currently I'm using a Marantz SR8200 reciever and , believe it or not, it sounds pretty good supplemented with my rel sub.
So whatever I get should be an improvement.
