From this forum and others I have been informed that B&W's need a lot of power to drive them efficiently so my question is the RB 1080(200watts) enough to drive 803S.

Yes, but with caution.
I have both and while the RB-1080 will drive 803Ss it does have it limits. By limits, I am referring to how quickly distortion starts to set in. The more dynamic the source and the higher the volume the higher the demands the 803Ss are going to put on the RB-1080.
The B&W 800 series (old and new) are very demanding. They bottom out around 3.0 ohms impedence! Although they publish 8.0 ohm nominal impedence it is actually more like 6.0 ohms in practice.
However, while the RB-1080 is conservatively rated for "only" 200 watts it will actually deliver around 315 watts before hitting 1% THD into an 8.0 ohm load and around 550 watts into an 4.0 ohm load!
So yes, the RB-1080 will drive the 803Ss, just be careful that you don't crank it up too far.

by specializedHi there.. I'm ordering B&W 803S speakers, powered by Rotel 1080.
As Pre/Pro i'm using Denon 3808 reciever, so for the front speakers power make RB-1080 (which is very nice and for the price is best at my opinion).
I'm thinking how to power B&W HTM3s center speaker and...-

by specializedI got a HTM3S to complement my 803s connected to Rotel RB-1080. After few hours of testing i realized that DENON 3808 dont have enough juice to drive HTM3S and i got a little bit dissapointed.. Anyway, my dealer borrow me another RB-1080 to try to drive HTM3S. Awesome difference.. Everything much better...-

by argomartI used to own a pair of B&W 703s and drove it with a McIntosh MA6500 solid state amp. It sounded great in a 12 x 12 room (9ft ceilings); more power than I could most of the time.
I had always planned on trading up to the 804s, but through an odd fluke, the dealer allowed me to go...-

by ZoranThis is my first full review of any product after approx. 15 or so years audiophilia behind, so it’s natural I want to share my impressions with audio fellows exactly over here on Htguide forum – IMO the most qualified place today to talk about B&W as consumer.
There are...-
