Tilting Spikes to tame bright 704s on wooden floor?

I have 704's on hardwood floors. I'd like to know if slightly adjusting the front spikes higher will help reduce the brightness and improve soundstage? Please note the spikes are on metal pucks. THINKS!

    Sheldon,

Try it and see - if there is an effect - it will most likely be very minor.

I would recommend some nice rugs on the floor between you and the speakers - this will usually tame the sound a lot more.

I too struggled with harshness with the 704s in a lively room when I was using that configuration. Try placing rugs and other soft object at the first reflection point (find using a mirror on walls, floor and ceiling) This will soften the harshness significantly. Although I was a skeptic at first, the ROOM IS THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENT IN THE SYSTEM!

        Value of used b&w 704s
        by chuck21401
I have a pair of black B&W 704 speakers as part of my home theater system. I purchased them two years ago from a DC retailer - Myer Emco. The speakers were floor demos and I paid $1500.

My son was born around the time I bought speakers, he is now 2. He is obsessessed with the tweeter...

        Trading in 704s for 703s
        by mrpotto
Ok, so here's what I've decided to do. I'm trading my 704s in for 703s (I have a deal with a local dealer where I get to apply purchase price of 704s towards the 703s so it will be about $800 out of pocket to do so). For now I plan to keep my HTM7 center (I've read on some audio forums that the HTM&...

        Rotel and B&W 704s?

Hi all, I've been mainly hanging around club Rotel - I own an RCD-1072, an RC-1070 and an RB-1080. Now, it's time to get a pair of really nice speakers.

I have looked at (listended to) several, including VAF Research (I-66), Sonus Faber GPs, Paradigm, Dynaudio Audience 72SE & KEF...

        Dilemma! 4 X 805s or 2x 704s & 2x 705s ?

        Hi guys (and gals!),

I would appreciate your help in a tough (for me) choice! If you were to choose one of the following set-ups, which one would you choose? (this is for both music and movies, and some SACD/Audio DVDs, in a small-ish living room):

        Front L&R - 704s...

        Sub to go with 704s?
        by Navin R. Johnso
        First post, here we go....

I've been lurking here for several months and decided on a pair of 704s and Rotel 1056 as the foundation for a system aimed at 60% music / 40% HT. I've had them for a few weeks and am delighted so far, but now the mind wanders to thoughts of subwoofers....
