    musak fidelity+ B&W

    Hi all
I've just bought my first real system a couple months ago and I'm new here (but lurking around last a couple of months ~)
I'm using the Musical Fideltiy gears (A5 integrated) to drive my B&W 703's.. and I have not seen anyone even talking about MF with his/her B&Ws in here...
    Am I an oddball?
What are your thoughts on the MF with B&Ws?

I haven't had a chance to compare the MFs against other popular brands such as rotel or classe.. but I simply had to get this guy with the matching CDP for their looks.. (what can I say...)

Also, I'm planning to upgrade my speakers to 803S, 803D or 802N(D, if I win a lottery..duh.. ) within this year
Should I consider getting a better amp (i.e. classe? pass? Mcintosh ?) first?

Bare with me if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about, but like I said, I'm still new in the hobby (strictly on two channel with lots of classical and some jazz and pops, I think HT for me is enough with my $500 sony set)

    Thanks for any comments

I've been drooling over the A5 from afar, but at somewhere around $2,500 US, it's just a fantasy. I'll stick with my old Classe integrated, which does a great job pushing my N804s. The MF combined with B&W has got to be a great combo. I envy you.

      js24,

I use a MF A3.2CD with my B&W speakers... but since they don't make HT stuff, I use a Rotel 1098 as the pre/pro. I would rate MF a step up on Rotel for CD playback and also for amplification. I've heard systems with the MF and Classe and can't say the MF is better than the Classe, just different. They are both great. They sound best when matched with other components made by the same company though (MF CD with MF PRE with MF power and Classe CD with Classe PRE and Classe power)...

I am using N804 with MF kw500, surely it sound good.

A5 may be ok with 805s, 804s, try to pair them before switch amp. If you really want to switch, try chord, classe (bought by B&w already, so the new release of amp is surely match!), marantz...etc

        Cheers,
        RS :T

I just bought today the new Musical Fidelity A5 Series, Integrated amp and CD Player. I compared it against the Classe Cap 2100, which I thought was better, but just could not afford dishing out 10k on it.

The MF stuff was very close to Classe. And ss for the Rotel...it didn't even come close to being able to effectively push my Martin Logan Aeoni speakers. Rotel to me is the beginner brand of hifi.

            Mcintosh & Classe

I spent the last couple of years searching and demo-ing electronics to match up with my 803D's, but after obtaining some Mcintosh equipment a few months ago I started second guessing myself on if I had made the right decision or if I should have stayed with my original plan of buying Classe electronics....

Classe CAM Mono Blocks or Music Fidelity 550K Superchargers?
            by beden1
I have been looking into upgrading the amps for my main 803Ds. These speakers do require some decent power.

I am currently using a Classe CAV-150 (6 channels X 150 watts), that I had set-up for bi-amping my front three speakers. Recently, I changed to connecting my five speakers through...

B&W 800's Better with Ayre or Classe'?
            by RebelMan
There has been some personal interest in my recent visit with Ayre and Classe' that I thought I would share with the people here. It is a bit lengthy but I hope you find it a useful read just the same.

            Purpose:

You are probably wondering why I would even bother to demo...

            Pre-amp Modification Review
            by wkhanna
The following is a rather winded review of the effects resulting from the modifications that were recently finished on my nearly 30 year old Carver C-19 tube hybrid pre-amp with a built-in phono pre-amp.

Tom is the owner of the shop and creator of the modification specifications. He is...
