I believe they use the aluminum tweeter of the 800 nautilus series.
I wonder if they will update it later, but perhaps its tuned so that the woofers and mid matches the current tweeter and replacing it may not sound good at all? I have no idea.B&W 800 Diamond, B&W805S, B&W DB1, Classe SSP 800, DIY Icepower ASX2 600W monos, Ayre QB9, JPlay.- Bottom

Just beautiful set up gwbw, I have a question for you; you have tried another type of amplification like AB or somethig like classe or mcintosh? I have the lower set up of yours(804D+HTM4D+805D) with the rotel RB1582 and I'm working in some improvement in amplification. I tested the RSX-1562 with good result but I don't know if it was the pacebo effect or what but after the long listening sesion I could detect some harsh in the sound, could you sharing your experience with the rotel?Last edited by leo2498; 08 May 2012, 13:01 Tuesday.Leo,

Hi leo2498. I've never tried McIntosh or Classe but i would love to. For a short period of time I drove the speakers with my old RSX1067 and Rb 1080 which produced sweet results but not a lot of power to drive the 803's. I'm quite happy with the D class amps which are not harsh ( in my view) but lots of rich bass and power (mind you, I have a DB1 sub which is great).- Bottom

Hello gwbw,
nice setup ... )
Could you please share with me your experience with DB1 ? ...
As you can see (page 113) I run same boxes 803D, HTM2 &
805D, but without sub for now ... and I am not 100% confident
if to go for or not ...
I am in love with concerts: Metallica, Diana Kral, Deep Perple, Sting, Take That, ... simply all kind of styles, ... but to so much movies ... and thats where my doubts about the DB1 are coming from.
Thanks for advice

audiogear,
Very nice systems! I do love a Mac rack. Those systems must sound great.
One suggestion on your HT system. The center channel is slightly recessed on the entertainment center. Move it out so the drivers are just over the edge.
The edge will compress the sound a bit. It's a nice tweak. And it's free.
Hope this helps.- Bottom

I honestly couldn't be happier. I listened to them on Classe gear and the sound is very similar (more similar than not). The Classe gear still has a little something extra, so I'm not taking anything away from that, but compared to McIntosh or Bryston or others... Rotel aligns with Classe gear.
Sort of like driving a Chevy Monte Carlo or a Vette... same manufacturer and drive very much alike...but you know what you get with the Vette. ha ha.Digital Audio makes me Happy.

I have just bought some new gear.
The speakers I have had for around 5 weeks and the electronics i deliberated long and hard before deciding.
I am after a stand of some kind to place it all on within the cubbyhole on the right hand side.
The electronics are brand new so are still breaking in but we have spent the last two full days listening and it sounds excellent.
I am going to try the CP800 with server against my CD player once it all has a few more hours on it.

Cossie0... I see they accidentally sent you all my Classe gear. If you can please be so kind and contact me, I'll send you my shipping info and pay to have them shipped to my house.
Thanks and sorry for the inconvience this may cause of you having to package them back up! LOL
Nice equipment! I'm jealous, I'd love to have some CA-M300 (or even 600)... I listened to the CP-800 and really liked the sound it produced. Hopefully you'll really start to enjoy them once they break in!!! Enjoy!!!!Digital Audio makes me Happy.

Hmmm to my previous setup... well it sounds very similar (I mean that in a good way)... I liked the sound I had before... and now with the 802Diamonds... it's just even that much better! I still only have *maybe* 100 hours on them...so I'm still learning everything they are capable of.
Basically there's just another level of detail revealed, the imaging on these things are INSANE... everything is pinpoint accurate as to location. I (and I'm believing it has to do with my room) are not forward at all. Actually they feel less forward than my 604s3s did. Music is maybe at the speakers and further back now (music definitely extends beyond where the wall is. But if something requires to jump out at you and fill the room... they easily adapt to that task.
The detail in all the ranges (low, mid, high) just have an unbelievable amount of detail I've not heard before. The bass (amount) is insane on these them... yet it's not "over done" nor "bloated" by any means. It's just a LOT compared to the almost none I got on my 604s3s. Now this is DEFINITELY due to the room... my friend has my 604s and in his room the amount and clarity is similar to what I'm getting with th 802Dis... I just get more and better.
The mid range is well the clearest I've heard, there's just no grain or muddiness to voices at all, they sound realistic and clear and have an openiness to them that's almost scary. I've already multiple times heard things off to the one side as I sit listening and have my eyes closed that I would've bet the speakers on that someone was in the room talking to me... yet no one is. So it's just a neat sensation when you can completely fool yourself in thinking someone is in the room with yourself.
The highs...well... probably my most favorite part of the new speakers. The Diamond Tweeters have a level of resolution I've not heard before. The level of how "high" a sound is has a whole new height to it's ceiling (Pun intended)... For instance a triangle ringing... well it's a triangle ringing and has such a high pitched tone to it...it's exactly how I remember playing with one and being fascinating at how it can sound. Cymbals have a level of realism and detail that's just amazing.
These speakers are definitely revealing almost everything and coloring very little (imho). I was able to easily (within 5 minutes) tell the difference between my Cambridge Audio 840c (used as a DAC) vs my friend's Schiit Bifrost and could quantify the differences to the utmost extremes... basically to the point of only an audiophile would care at the differences and everyone else wouldn't even notice them. But I can say I think it would've been much harder before.
All in all, I'm highly impressed with my Rotel equipment... I think they are holding their own and really have NOTHING to be ashamed of. The RB-1090 is a very impressive amp. The only replacement amp I'm considering is the Classe CA-M600 as to do an upgrade and considering the price differences of those two vs the RB-1090... that says all one could say!!!
All in all.. except when I see the bill (lol) I'm in complete awe with the speakers and I really think they fit in so much better than what I had. Some how I think I stumbled across the perfect room and placement of the speakers where they just love being here!!!Digital Audio makes me Happy.
