I actually have had the 800D for about a couple of weeks now. Although, they haven't seen much playing time lately as my system has been broken down due to the multiple home improvement projects that have been underway. Thankfully, we are on the tail end so I hope to get back to doing some more listening soon, maybe in the next few days. As soon as my spike kit and my plasma display come in I will be all set."Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today."- Bottom

Pictures of my setup...
Hi Guys,
I have been periodically checking out this thread for a few years. My first B&W purchase was a pair of 602S3 bookshelves with an ASW300 - powered by a Marantz receiver. Then, a few months ago, I put together the following system:
Fronts: B&W 804S
Center: B&W HTM3S
Rears: B&W 602S3 (carried over...)
Sub: B&W ASW 300 (carried over...)
LCR Amp: Monster 3250 (picked up from costco.com for $999)
Rear Amp: Onkyo M-282 (2X100)
DVD/CD: Denon 1920
Pre/Pro: Outlaw 990
Power: Monster HTS 3500
Cable: SA 8300HD, Comcast
Game: Xbox 360
Television: Sony KDS50A2000 (50in SXRD)
Interconnects LCR: Cobalt Balanced
Interconnects Rear: Outlaw PCA
Speaker Wire LCR: Cobalt Ultimate
Speaker Wire Rear: Home Depot 14 AWG
Furniture: BDI Axis
Here are my thougts: To be honest, I haven't been blown away by the sound. I think this is primarily due to a few things. First, I live in an apartment, so I can't really turn it up very loudly. Secondly, room acoustics - I know nothing about them. I do know, however, that the coffee table in front of the center speaker is probably not helping anything. Also, I know that enclosing the center speaker the way it is probably doesn't help (though I think I have pulled it out and aimed it upward as much as possible - see pictures). Lastly, I didn't have any system in here before to compare this one to - I moved the system in at the same time I moved in. Had I been here for a year with a crappy system, then I probably would think this was unbelievable.
I'm only 23, so budget is a huge concern (I have no more budget for AV stuff). I think once I move to a house and have a better dedicated room for this stuff, then it will open up the way I want it to (I hope).
Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can help the sound given the constraints I have? I'm not looking to buy anything substantial or make any substantial changes such as furniture, components etc.
Keep in mind that I'm new to this stuff - so when I say it doesn't blow me away, that doesn't mean that there is anything wrong. Perhaps I just don't have realistic expecations...who knows...
Thanks in advance for the ideas, suggestions, advice, etc!
[Edit: I wouldn't say I'm disappointed in the sound - I guess I was just expecting more after spending what I consider to be an inordinate amount of money on this stuff... I would say I am pretty satisfied when it comes to music, and somewhat less satisfied with HT.]- Bottom
