I just purchased a 704/HTM7 combination for the front and am now considering my surround options. I haven't seen much traffic on the forum on the DS7 (seems most people go for the 705's). I'm interested in the DS7 for wall mount capability and the much shallower profile. Has anybody had good/bad experience w/ the DS7's? Any glaring reason why people go for the 705 for surround?

The biggest reason the 705 is picked is for multi-channel stereo.
It has been recommended to use a dipole speaker for surround for movies to give it more ambiance as opposed to sound comming from a localized speaker.
But, if you ever plan on doing multi-channel stereo, you will wish u have the 705s or even matching 704s. Which is what I would recommend...after paying out the money for the stands, the 704s are too much farther away in cost.- Bottom

I guess the question to be answered is how a 705 compares to the DS7 monopole? I haven't compared the two directly but would be willing to bet the 705 would be a better candidate for multichannel music. However, the DS7s might make a better compromise (switchable) depending on your goal.- Bottom

by PezI am looking to add the DS7 suuround speakers to my 705 and HTM7 setup but was concerned about the frequency response. Most of my HT usage is movies and when used in dipole mode the upper end of teh DS7 is only rated to 10 kHz as opposed to 20 kHz that most speakers are listed at. Based on the description...-

by JohnnyHI'm considering a piece of furniture that will not hold a HTM7 center, but would hold a 705. Are there any advantages to the HTM7 over a 705. Mains will either be 705's or 704's. Probably 704.
This is the credenza I'm considering. http://www.diamondcase.com/Evolution/Evolution_...-

New to the club but have had my setup for sometime.
Currently I am using a Rotel RSX-1057 to power 704 for the mains, HTM7 for the center and 705 for surrounds. I am looking for advice on these 2 options.
Should give the 704's 130x2 from a Rotel RB-1070
