I'm keen to find out how small a pair of open baffle speakers can be built.
The full plan can be read here , but in summary the criteria are:
- Full range (20hz - 20khz)
- Compact, no larger than typical 5" floorstander. High WAF :P
- Simple eq/xo, no more than bi-amp....

A new design: Bob's B3 project
It's been a while since we had a new project on the board, so if you don't mind, I would like to show you the speakers I've been working on for the past two years. I call it simply the B3 project. I took these to DIY Atlanta unfinished in summer 2009 and they were well received, tying for first in the...- Bottom

Raal, Neo 10 open baffle
Got the baffle ready to test out. Just waiting for a pair of Lambda Dipole 15's to show up and I'm set. Eventually, the real baffle will most likely have some large, curved pieces down each side. The real baffles will also be made out of bamboo plywood. If anyone in the central Florida area wants to...- Bottom

Kleos - Dipole Line Array
Okay, here is the facts:
Inspiration for this speaker started in this thread ( https://www.htguide.com/forum/showth...t=31848&page=1 ). Drivers are six Usher 8137A 8", BG-RD50 Planar Mid, and 6-8 BG-NEO3 tweeters. Crossover will be discrete JFET active crossover, I think,...- Bottom

Build Thread -- Newbie modeling an hframe - open back mid
I am totally new to the open baffle modeling process. I have gained a very rudimentry understand about what needs to happen by reading from John K, Martin King, Linkqitz, etc...
I am setting out to build a first attempt at an open baffle. My budget is tight and I want to go all passive....- Bottom

Interesting aesthetics (not DIY)
Well, I think these are quite interesting. What do you think? They are the Gradient Helsinki's. I wonder if the back of the woofer is enclosed. Sidefiring dipole strikes me as a dubious design decision.
I'd prefer the tweeter and midrange 'baffles' to be oak or solid black. Seems to me...- Bottom

Dipoles for Dummies
Hi all. I wanted to start a thread to hopefully start a discussion around the finer points of Dipole design since a number of us in this forum are starting to build some. Some background links that I've found invaluable:

Dipole/Bipole Surrounds?
Making this thread for a friend to get answers on some stuff. Basically I'm looking for answers as to why they are not used in DIY much if ever? Are they not good? Why do so many MFG's use them but noone in the DIY world does?- Bottom

Dipole with BMS Accuton and B&G
Hello, this is my first post on this board!
I am building a three way dipole with the BMS15N840, the Accuton C90 (173N-C90/6) and the B&G Neo3pdr.
The dipole is a semi U-frame for the woofers, so half cardioid, half 8 figure behavior.
crossovers will...- Bottom

Need some recommendations for a dipole build
My brother recently asked me to build him a pair of speakers for his 2-channel system and mentioned that cost is not an object (oh yeah!), as long as I keep it under $2000. He was over recently and had a chance to listen to my cheap dipole 3-ways (https://www.htguide.com/forum/showpost.php?p=326403...- Bottom

proaudio dipole, tips/design?
I've been extremely busy with school and havent had the time to truly sit down and design my ambitious ESL project (maybe this summer or fall), but am longing for a magnificent speaker that wont cost me several thousand. The pro-audio lineups have gotten increasing praise over the past several months,...- Bottom

What kind of effect would this dipole mounting have?
Any idea what type of response this type of dipole mounting would have? The woofers would be wired out of phase so they don't cancel each other out. There would also be more bracing to stiffen the frame. I just wanted to make this up quickly.
I apologize for the cheesy pic!

Can you say, inexpensive Mission Accomplished dipole?
I was wondering if there is a demand out there for a Mission Accomplished thread for a low-budget dipole speaker? I’m sure there are some folks out there, like myself, which would love to have a dipole speaker that sounds great and is inexpensive to build. My only concern is if we were to design a...- Bottom

Dipoles Old & New - Show & Tell
I thought it would be nice to have a thread showing a variety of dipole designs that might be simple, complex, ugly, pretty, old, new, commercial, DIY or whatever tickles your fancy.
Hopefully the examples will be able to show what others have had in mind when they tackled dipole designs...- Bottom
