    Hello :)

After lurking a bit, I realized how interesting and educational this forum, and member's.
Speaker design wise, a newbie. With a little background of 2 builds, some 20 years ago. Weems was all I had and Xover help from Madisound.

I have a current project, and wish to take it slow. Well, up to a point anyway. Pretty fortunate to have a woodworking background, yet nothing at all like some the Art I have seen here. Some 40 years as an Electronics Tech. I can strip wire and solder, lol.

Am active on another music related forum, where we are discussing this project. Hey, i would be happy with any decent Mid-Fi result !

I see a lot of articles here to read through.

So, Hello from North of Dallas, Texas.
    Bryan

Oh,I have a question, kinda hate to ask... my PC's virus/malware always flags Vituixcad2. I Imagine this is common ? So I have not installed. Am using other SW.

Hi Bryan, welcome to the forum!

Which antivirus do you use? I haven't come across this issue with any version of VituixCAD.

Hi, Yes thanks for asking! It was an unfamiliar to me, warning from Trend Micro. I know now, I can ignore it at least in some cases
So the Software is installed, and seems to be running ok.

I have been using VituixCAD for about 15 years- never any issues related to it. But I have a PC disk partition which was setup back around 2013 first of all for the high tech programs I had to use for specialty design tasks related to high frequency power conversion and wide bandgap semiconductors. So a 2013 MacPro with a bootcamp partition was the solution.

And this partition was NOT used for email or conventional web browsing, only going on the web to download new CAD programs and updates to existing ones. By avoiding the majority of common PC tools, the working environment remains very clean and organized, and uses no anti-virus programs, as well as no Google sourced programs. While I am an advocate for certain qualities of the Dark Side, it is wise to avoid tools for which YOU are the product, not your work.

            Thanks for the welcome!

Evil Twin : HF Power conversion! Yes!! Love it! Switchers have been a favorite since the early 80's and Hexfets!! lol! My last experience was "Failure Analysis" (mostly repair when possible) for Delta's Telecom/Server Switchers.

Well, Vituix is quite the program! Will be a seruius learning curve.

Right now, I am just trying to find the proper, basic box. For HiVi F10 Woofers. Vituix, gave me answers very similar, almost indentical to Winspeakerz and to a lesser extent BassBox 6pro. BB6 gives port dimensions that are not realistic. Winspeakerz and Vituix are very close. Warm fuzzy feeling.

It seems that 1.24 and some give or take is the result for Volume. So now it is a matter of actual dimensions. Very possible - will have to be larger with a solid baffle, to accomadate the
            midrange and tweeter.
The Midrange is a Tang Bang 50-1426se
            Tweeter is a Peerless D27TG-30-06

            Whats funny.. and interesting to me, anyway is ;
my hearing stops at 4Khz by 4.5Khz, I hear nothing.
The Midrange alone covers that to 5 Khz... so, is a tweeter even needed ? lol!
            Not to mention Tinnitus

I often wonder how many oh say late 30's to 50 years old have tested their hearing.

I would like to get started on the Box. I will have to wait to be able to purchase crossover components. I may just have to get a pre-made Xover from parts express that has the correct/very close Xover frequencies.
The last speakers I built, I paid for the Xover design through Madisound. IIRC it was either Butterworth or Bessel with transition to linear phase. or vise versa LOL!
I think it was the vise-versa. Makes more sense.

At work, for many years I was involved in RF and IF filters. Of various types.
However, involving Audio Xovers, I am just a newb, though have an understanding of the types, and terminology
The concept of a very low impedance source and "loads" that vary vs freq, .. Well... yeah. haha. no way jose!!

In the meantime I will enjoy reading about your builds and methods in the Wood shop.
Due to cost constraints, my box will be MDF, painted. I can use hardwood or decent Ply for bracing, etc.

1.24 cu ft. volume. Seems I cannot edit other Typo's and so called sentence structure etc. 😆

                803D arrived and installed...
                by Stevebez
Well, after the wife calmed down to a mild panic with the invasion of the fairly large 803D's she soon calmed down realising they are quite "pretty" pieces of furniture (went rosenut).

I was wanting to go 803D's and HTM2D's but the centre would have resulted in divorce.. so,...

DH Labs Silver Sonic Q-10 Speaker Cable
                by Phil Rose
Because of a thread on another forum where our very own ThomasW recommended DH Labs Silver Sonic T-14 speaker wire I decided to order a bi-wire set. Not until the cables were on their way did I find that DH Labs "just" introduced their Q-10 cables. See this link for details of the cable:h...

                Black background?
                by Razvan
Has anybody tried to select black background in the Superimpose section of the OSD Setup sub-menu? When Black is selected the OSD menu is supposed to be "displayed on a black background at all times". I tried that on my unit but it doesn't seem to work i.e. I can't change the background color...

                Background Noise
                by Schimmel
I bought my new HT components about 3 months ago (1095, 1066, B&W CM6, Pioneer CMX503, Pana RP62). Initially, I had a ground loop problem, but after I connected the MAGIC splitter to my cable, the hum went away. Lately, however, I have been noticing a very annoying background noise while watching...
