very much off topic, but i wanted to mention this sad bit of news.
while many folks have mixed feelings on the usefulness of audio journalism (and now being a manufacturer in the industry myself, i have an even wider perspective that hints toward it not always being as unbiased as some would like us to believe), i do want to comment on the passing of Art.
over the past 6 years i have always spent time talking with Art at Capital AudioFest in Washington D.C.
every year he would immediately recognize me and make sure he blocked at least a few minutes to chat, if not share a snack or meal.
regardless of anyone's opinion on the relevance of audio journalism, there is no denying the quality of Art's writing skills.
like any true professional, he made something V difficult look easy.
his ability to scribe interesting and fun to read articles laced with just the right touch of self-effacing humor, personal experiance and common interest placed him at the top of his specialized craft.
i will miss him, and CAF will be a bitter sweet event for me this year.

I'd read his column in last November's Stereophile (The Third Rail) just a few hours ago.
