    RIP Ed Shaughnessy

    Ed Shaughnessy, remembered most as Johnny Carson's drummer on the Tonight Show Orchestra with Doc Severenson, died of a heart attack Friday at his Calabasas Calif home. Sad day for drummers. Ed was one of the best. He played with a lot of greats in his day, from Hendrix, to big bands, and then finally found his home on the Tonight show orchestra.

      Wow.....

      Doc, Tommy Newsom, Shaughnessy, Clark Terry, Snooky Young, Ernie Watts, Bucky Pizzarelli, Herb Ellis, Russ Freeman.......

      It is amazing the quality of musicians the band had when Johnny was there.

      I remember fondly in my youth being influenced by the music from that wonderful group of artists.
