    Gifts Ideas

Hi everyone, Im just throwing this idea out there for a new topic for people to post gift ideas they have received or given to someone who loves music, home theatre or any other music related topic. I figured its hard enough to get unusual gifts that are a nice surprise and a change from the norm so this could be a good resource for family or friends to go to for ideas.

To start off i have one I received recently and one I gave as a gift.
The one I received was from my wife and daughter on fathers day. We have an agreement that on mothers/fathers day we have to make the gift as it takes a little more effort and comes from the heart.
When i moved to the US in 2001 one of the few things I couldn't leave in the UK were my late fathers original Beatles 45's he bought whilst in the Army on national service. Unknown to me my wife bought this from amazon and framed one of them for me, totally blew me away when i opened it. It still has the his name sellotaped to it from when he was in the Army barracks!

The gift i gave away was at my daughters christening to her godfather. He's a big Jazz vinyl record enthusiast and has about 2000 records. To do something to acknowledge his record passion we got him a nice set of cufflinks again available at amazon. He loved them!

Anyway there are my starters, if you like the idea please add some extras so we can share.

Moderators: if this has already been done please feel free to delete, i did look and couldn't see it anywhere.

Well, no wifey here, just my daughter to really gift me, and that's ok, she put real effort into it last year to please her Dad. It wasn't what she spent, but the thought that went into it that really made me happy. I don't put much requests in, cause I know she doesn't have a lot to spend. I just let her go free, and since she usually likes to get me a gift card, I will tell her one place, in the past a golf course. today? probably a guitar music store...

Last year she got me these cool locally produced coasters that had old images of Knoxville on them, including one of an old coffee company here, that was sort of cool. It's nostalgia, and there used to be a huge JFG sign near my Dad's biz, so a JFG coaster was way cool. I know not music oriented, but it knocked me out, love them...

nice things like that do blow you away much more than the usual gifts. its the depth and thought that makes it special.

I wouldn't mind owning that! :T Though I doubt I would ever wear it, it is a cool piece.

Got my HD projector for my birthday and my first hi-def disc player at Christmas, each from my wife (and each is still going strong 8 years later).

Well, it's about that time again.
I was thinking we can make a gift idea list that can benefit us in two ways.
Let's think of toys that one can give an audio euthusists. This way we can get an idea of what to give someone else, plus if the list is nice and full, you can always forward...

Out of your entire music collection, what CD, Record or DVD would you give as an educational gift to the uninitiated?

You know the type. Only listens to the soft rock station, never varies, but would be open to some great lesser known stuff?

Clint Eastwood is spinning his magic again, this time with the backdrop being WW2. Now if you want to see 132 minutes of battle scenes, then this film is not for you. Oh, there's plenty of battle scenes and some are extremely graphic. But what the film is really about is people--mostly young men in...
