Not a big fan of the EDF's I've flown and seen. Yeah, they go like a bat out of hell, but slowing them down to land sucks. I had a DeHaviland Vampire EDF from HobbyKing.com, and it flew great. Until I stalled it in a turn because it didn't like to go slow. A friend of mine had a Stinger EDF from the same website, which looked very similar to the ones you linked. It flew great, until it got out of range of his transmitter and crashed. I really like the aerobatic planes, the ones that hang on the prop and flip and roll and flat spin and such. I've also been building my own out of Dollar Tree foam. Most of the plans I've built come from http://www.parkjets.com/. The thrust vectoring tabs make them do some wicked stunts. Plus they're so light I can throttle back, with full up elevator, and catch them out of the air if necessary.

No need to open your wallet for that toy. You just need to get to a flight school, spend 3+ years learning to fly, spend another 3+ years teaching people to fly making less than minimum wage, get hired by a commuter airline for 5+ years and never be home, then get lucky enough to be hired by only 4 companies in the country that are worth working for, all to actually fly one of these. After all of that, you will probably realize that it would have been better to become an engineer and just purchase a RC plane in the first place.....
