    Kentucky, Tennessee, et.

It has to really suck living with not electricity for weeks. My friend lives in Tennessee and won't have power for another 2 weeks. He said he spends his day cutting wood for warmth and trying cooking with a gas stove. He said it, rough but, there is no other choice except a shelter. He said some neighbors are entering peoples homes and businesses to get whatever they can. supermarkets for food, hardware stores for batteries, etc. no real violence YET. but he's keeping his gun close. Just imagine if you and your entire state lost power for 3 weeks! NO Power, NO phones, NO idea whats happening in the rest of the world, NO t.v. and OMG the holy grail itself...lol NO STEREO!! ahhhhh.
That must really suck, I normally don't put much thought in this stuff, but what if Dec 12, 2012 really does happen like some say. A pole shift and worldwide power outage. How long would it take for to break down into total anarchy?

Pretty scary stuff. We get our share of power outages when it storms, but they are of short duration. Don't know what I'd do if I lost power for days and weeks.

what part of TN is he in? I've heard of the KY problems, very bad. I've not heard as much about the state I live in, TN. I had a 1 minute power outage last night, just enough to kill clocks, mess up my A/V system, etc... Took me a while to restore my system to acceptable levels. Weird problem of disappearing video that required going from remote to remote, reboots, adjusting this and that to finally get back.

Funny, if the system is off, and we have a power outage, it's usually no issues. But if on, lookout.

We hit 22 F last night, a little frozen left over water on roads from snow yesterday that accumulated mostly on trees and yards.

Two years ago we had a power outage to the entire island that lasted 3 days. It was early December and the temp ranged from 28 F down to 16 F. It was uh. . . fun. Not. Lots of homes here are going to in-line whole-house generators powered by propane tanks as an alternate source. We getting ours put in this summer - just in case. Not cheap, but I'm not freezing my tutus off again.

My sympathies to those people in KY and TN that are stuck in the dark.

Loss of RSX-1055 settings with power outage
          by hal
After a power outage which settings are likely to be lost and which ones are retained? Does the "User Settings" feature retain all this after a power outage or is some/most of it lost? Any alternatives other than an uninterruptable power supply?

          Suggestions for UPS power backiup
          by BilGe
Yesterday it happened again ... I am SERIOUSLY annoyed!

The power at my house failed twice in about 30 seconds. The total outage was only 40 seconds or so. The first outage was only 5 seconds, then the power was on for about 15 seconds, then it went out for about 30 seconds. When...

1066 loses ALL settings after 5 minute power outage?!
          by Patrick TX
Man, this is driving me NUTS! My 1066 lost EVERYTHING (except firmware) after a 5 minute power outage. What's confusing me is that I have it plugged in to a Panamax M5300 power center. Every night, I hit the master power button on the Panamax to shut down in sequence. What it the difference between...

          Power centers for HT
          by cameronthorne
I'm looking a power center for my equipment rack and having trouble finding exactly what I want. It doesn't have to be one device. If I found some combination of devices that met my needs, that would work too.

          Rotel Power Conditioner RLC 1040
          by sskim
I just picked up RLC1040 this past weekend and got it all hooked up Saturday morning. I have 50" Pioneer plasma, Rotel RSX1057, Rotel RDV1050 and an old VCR. I'm not expecting any improvement in sound or PQ, but just looking for the peace of mind. Not that I've had any power issues but since...
