I don't know about a better recommendation, but I'm really happy with my Pioneer BDP-05FD. I know it's a good bit more than the -51FD, however the images it outputs to my HD plasma (50" Elite) look better to me than any of those I've seen on friend's and family's HD systems..

I got Samsung BD-P2500 and it is nice... Not anything special, but it is quikly and working with silence... Also I like that it hasn't got many buttons on the front...Comment

Look, the menu is very simple, sometimes I think that it hasn't got many functions... It is my first BD and I didn't have any comparisons, so... It's up to you... The only thing that I'm sure is that it is quiet and fast...I have it only a month... :huh:Comment

BD-P2550 Has the ESS Saber DAC
If you are into using the 7-channel analog outputs from the player then you might want to consider the Samsung. It uses the ESS Saber DAC which is setting the audio boys on fire for sound quality. I have the Samsung and on my system I can hear the difference between using 7-channel analog outputs vs. the digital outputs. The only drawback is if playing 2-channel audio there is no LFE out to drive a subwoofer so your fronts must be able to do all of the bass frequencies.

Has anyone used the pioneer BDP-51FD? When I read the reviews they seem favorable other than the price. Now the price has dropped to $350, so I am considering this as a bedroom Blu-Ray player. I have a 50" Pioneer Kuro in that room. The audio runs through the tv since my wife refuses to let... -
I'm deciding between these two models (51fd and 320fd) since I can get either new in box at $199.

I recently bought a 46" Samsung 8000 LED LCD tv. I previously watched a 3 year old 42" Pioneer Elite plasma.
