You know... I got to thinkin' about it though... a few years back those things were kindly expensive. Of course in the last year or so the prices have really dropped... the newer Pioneer models with added effects are just barely over $100 new (street price).
I been trying to think of my best deal... I guess it would be the Sunfire Cinema Grand that listed for $2750 (at the time) and I only paid $1575 ... OR... maybe my HGS-15 that retailed for $2695 (at the time) for ~$1500 (can't remember exactly and I feel terrible now that as good subs are out there for 1/3 what I paid).
No wait... it was my Lexicon DC-1 for $1500 (retail was way up there... near $5K with all the adds that I had (5.1, DTS, etc) at the time of course. And I sold it for $2600 on Audiogon... whoo-hoo!... right before the newer DC-2 was about to hit the streets. Did the price ever drop after that... down to $1500 then down to less than a thousand. Cheap now... really cheap!- Bottom

When I went shopping for a new TV, I knew that I wanted the Sony KP51WS510. Before heading to the store, I checked their web site and saw a Panny that was out of stock. Went in, told the clerk, "I'll take that Panny." Clerk said, "We're sold out of that one at the moment." Told the clerk, "I'll take that Sony if you'll sell it to me for what the Panny costs." After talking to the manager, they agreed. Got the one I wanted for $200 cheaper than sticker. The gear that I presently own constitutes my first foray into serious (for me) HT, so this is the best deal I've found so far. The TV was my first purchase, so I didn't know places like Audiogon even existed at that time. My speakers, amps, and sub are all internet direct purchases, so I feel like I got a good deal on that stuff anyway, so I'm happy. Great forum you guys have here, by the way. Sonnie, glad to see another Alabama resident here. Your BFD setup guide was invaluable. Thanks.-EVH III- Bottom

Welcome to the guide Eddie from B'ham! We can finally say we got some BAMA boyz in the hood now. :T
Hmmm... a meter reader with one fine audio system to go along with a southern redneck hillbilly wannabe home theater ethusiast. Now that's a pair. I dont' know how much damage we are going to be able to do here Eddie.
Any chance you are related or know Debra Horton from Monroeville, AL? Good friend of my wife and in our wedding some 21 years ago.
Hang around... I think you find this to be one heck of a nice place for sure.
Thanks on the BFD Guide... glad it was helpful.- Bottom

Well I must say some people have gotten some amazing deals, and I thought I was a good negotiator. Sony kf 60we610 2400$, yamaha 1500 450$, wharfedale evo 30s 600$, def tech bpx 575$ all new and shipped. I shouldnt have listed these prices since all the audio will be for sale soon Ive got some serious upgraditis going on.
On a side note my best deal lately though has to be my bmw 330I brand new loaded with 119 miles for 32k even made them throw in floor mats and an alarm. Unfortunately since it was recently rear ended ill be trading it in. A wrecked car never drives the same- Bottom

My best deal wasn't something I got extremely cheap, but something which had the effect to be for me the very best deal in HT/Audio.
It was buying the AV-receiver Audionet MAP V2, secondhand, for 4.400,- Euro. It was so good, that it started a complete turnover of my HT/Audio.- Bottom

Two things for me. One was a Luxman amp that I bought out of town(growing up town) and when I when to my local dealer, he asked me if I was the guy who got the amp for below dealer cost! I guess the dealer lost some money on that!
Next was this past summer, I went into the Brick(Canada store) and asked if they price matched, "yes" they said. So I told them that A & B Sound had a Hitachi 50V500 plus stand for $2548, they price matched without even calling A & B...I haven't seen this price ever since!
I guess there are three;ThomasW sold me three Shivas for ~$50(Can) each with shipping! Thanks ThomasW! :T- Bottom

I got a pretty good deal last year. My co. was remodeling a local radio/tv station. To make room, they had to get rid of alot of stuff. As I was getting ready to throw a box in the dumpster, I happened to see what it was. It's a Technics SP10MK2A turntable with the power pack.
Took this baby home. It was all original with the packing. I wasn't familiar with it, so I went to ebay to see how much they sell for. Around $400. Oh yea. A couple of days later I was talking to the janitor about the TT that I found. Not about how much it was worth though. He tells me that he threw about 6 or 7 of them in the dumpster. :E So I tell my coworker I'm going to go dumpster diving at lunch. When I go out there at lunch, No Dumpster. A truck had come and took it away. :M I even called the refuse place after work and told them I accidentally threw my power saw away and could I come by and see if I can find it. Sorry, that load has been pushed over the hill. Man I wanted to cry. I decided to sell the one I had. Got $389 with BIN. Used the money to get my Rotel RT-1080 tuner. Oh Well!- Bottom

Before I worked where I work now, I bought a new set of Paradigm Studio 60 v.2 for $1100. Well then after I had worked there for a while, a co-worker was having money problems and I jokingly offered him $400 for his Studio 60 v.2. He said ok...I wrote him a check and ran them as rears.
Then...heres the best part. I sold them for almost $700. Same with the LCR450 center channel. Bought it on ebay for $250...sold it on ebay for nearly $300 to the guy who bought the 60s.
But since I can buy stuff at cost, I dont shop around too much else. Maybe i need to start dropping in the pawn shops from time to time.- Bottom
