I saw a demo of hypersonic sound on Tech TV's Screensavers last night. I thought it was very interesting.

Are these the directional speakers? A user seated in their sound field hears everything but someone standing outside the "beam of sound" doesn't hear it?
If so, it's my understanding the fidelity isn't quite there for high-end audio just yet. They're going to be used as marketing tools (getting your attention at malls or built-in to soda machines).

Yes that is correct Sili, If the sound quality could be improved, the applications for home entertainment could be revolutionary. Imagine being able to crank up the tunes without disturbing the neighbors.

Recently I've been hearing a very high pitch sound coming from my monitor. The monitor is an old Optiquest Q71, 17" CRT. I think I bought this back around in 2000.
