Recently I've been hearing a very high pitch sound coming from my monitor. The monitor is an old Optiquest Q71, 17" CRT. I think I bought this back around in 2000.
The sound is intermitent, and I seem to be the only one that hears it! My wife says she can't hear a thing. But I know it is there. I'd say very close to the 20,000 Hz range. I just need a mic and a frequency analyzer to graph the sound! If I had to guess, I'd say it is probably 18,238 Hz.
I'm hoping it is serious enough that my monitor will just black out! That way I can get a new monitor.

I think it might be heat related, as I moved end of June. Now my computer is in a corner that gets a lot of sun. I leave my monitor on all the time, with powersaving. I noticed that it went away for a month or so, but again recently it started to act up.
