    There can only be one-

No, I am not talking about Highlander and the immortals. I am talking about Music or Movies. If you had to pick just one, and couldn't have the other AT ALL, which would you choose?

I will save my answer to last.

If I could only have either movies or music ......

I would pick movies. Becuase you have music in movies, movies about music and concert movies. Best of Both worlds. :P

Tough question, but I'd have to say that I'd ditch movies. I have several reasons for this.

        - I can't drive my car without having the radio on. I find it difficult to drive while watching a movie. haha.
        - I can listen to certain songs hundreds of times, but there are very few movies that I can watch numerous times.
        - Going to a dance bar just wouldn't be the same with a movie on the wall.
        - I have music on virtually all day. I think background music is better than background movie.

          Music, hands down

Because that is what got us into this in the first place. Think about it.
Lusting for the purest sound duplicated through metal, wood, and wire...We are not normal (whatever that is) for if we were, we would settle for kenwood 8O

Remember when you were in high school listening to your favorite band in your car on a warm sunny day with your girlfriend, and how it matured into studying for hours and spending countless thousands of dollars for music to be reproduced accuratly, man :wtf:

Definitely music. It's a rare instance that I don't have music on at any given time. I listen to it at home, at work, and in the car. We only watch 1-2 movies a week on average.

Music, no question about it. To take it one step further, if I could only have music on vinyl or cd, hands down it would be vinyl.

Music. A few movies leave me genuinely moved and many are fun to watch, but there is a LOT of music that deeply resonates (pun intended) with me and even more that is fun and enjoyable.

Dammit, now I've got to get a dedicated 2-channel system! :W

I would choose to leap snarling on the person who forced the choice on me, rendering all my work towards either part of my system useless.

If someone tried to force this choice on me, they wouldn't leave alive.

But, if push came to shove, it would probably be music because in my early life there was only audio (radio before the phonograph player came along), and I really didn't know what video or tv was until much later. Still, it would be awful hard going back to audio only because I watch more movies than I listen to music.

Hmmmm.... let's see, everyone except Eduardo said music (Brandon didn't choose). How lop-sided.

I'm gonna say movies. I'd have to give up my Karaoke/DJ business.

I love to watch movies and I can watch them several times, put them down for a few years and wathc them again. As I can with music.... but my favorite music is on LD/DVD (not sure if that would be eliminated if music was eliminated though).

I don't go to bars, clubs very often, especially not because of the music, unless of course I am forced to DJ/KJ a show, which I'll do everything to get out of unless it's like a class reunion. Some of those are fun with the older music.

I can't remember the last time I listened to my CD player at the house. Poor ole CAL Icon Mark II is collecting dust.

I listen to music off and on in the truck with my XM Radio but I also have begun to listen much more to talk radio (news and sports shows). I could do with talk radio solely if I had to.

Music has become less and less a part of my life, for whatever reasons, and movies/TV has become more and more part of my life with HT the way it is now. It's just more exciting and there are plenty of movies constantly coming about that keep me busy. Music to me comes in spurts, while movies have always been interesting.

OK Sonnie, movies. Now you must pay, leap snaaaaaaaaaaaaaarl. You get a reprieve if you buy an FP though. :P

I get to listen to music so little (my wife and I have overlapping tastes, but she HATES my favorite stuff), that it would be a smaller chunk out of my life.

Were theatrical movies included in this unfair dilemma?

I guess I'm late to this party, but, for me, definitely music. First of all, I can do most everything I like with music playing in the background, like I'm doing right now typing this. But, the essence of music is much more important to me. Music and confirm or alter my mood more than movies. It plays more to the moods I'm in and it involves me more in the moods it portrays. I really love both, but, if given a choice...

Music! As much as I love movies, it is music that can pass the time, even on a crappy system. It is easy to make time for and doesn't require your dedicated attention to enjoy.

I guess it's safe to say I am last in the normal traffic anyway, since it's been since Dec 5 since someone posted.

As much as I love music, I couldn't give up my movies. All my senses need fullfillment, not just my ears. My favorite actors, my favorite movies, I can't give them up.

So, I guess when I want music, I will have to play my movies that have great soundtracks, lol.

John, as many people that said music, you should be a little busier, huh?

                                        Doug-

Hahahahaaa... I haven't posted yet... I would have to say movies. I've been a musician for most my life, and music has been a great part of my life. The spiritual and emotional power of music is unparalleled.

HOWEVER, I would say this question begs a slightly different answer. As the illustrious Eduardo pointed out, we have music in movies. And I would take it that the question is which media we couldn't own, record, play on our system, etc. As long as it wouldn't be barred for me to sign or maybe even perhaps play an instrument, I would have to keep movies for the entertainment, etc... I mean hey, one of my favorite music recording is actually U2's Rattle and Hum MOVIE video. Since it's a movie, it would be allowed!

John, as many people that said music, you should be a little busier, huh?
Lex, I raised this same point a few months ago. h: I would think that the music section of the forum, would be as busy as any other. I don't understand it either. However, it won't stop my quest to share info about song with the masses! :B

Do you mean give up music or HT, or music and film (i.e., including that we see in theaters)?

Irrespective of your answer, I will choose music because of the way it moves the soul.
