So guys, what do you think about the layout of the forum? Early on, it's much easier to make changes now than later! So, I ask each of you to think about the catagories that I created, (with the clever names I might add), and offer your input as to any changes you might like to see, additions, or a simple atta-boy will do, lol.

I am sure there will be some refinement as time goes by, but I want my inaugural members opinions!

Yes, this includes Member #16, rofl. We all know who he is, right? I mean, he tells you so, right in his signature!

I like the look you have created. It is very soothing and not so dark like other forums I haunt. I agree that I would like to see a place to list our respective system specs but to add to that some pictures would be nice. I understand that pics take up much more space than text and I am not sure what kind of server space you have secured so this may or may not be possible. Anyway it looks good so far and I look forward to seeing this sight progress. Kudos.

Thanks Andrew, I saw that the other day, and forgot to fix the dang thing,lol.

Also, thanks for your honest comments, and I think Mats has taken care of at least part of the request. We may add a member gallery later, but unfortunately, it will be up to the individual to build their theater page, and then provide the active link to us. I really need more theaters for the Guide portion, but am waiting for those that want to have their site linked, to contact me

OK Lex, I'm in. Nice site. Comfortable color schemes. I understand that there is only so much you can do with the common forum template, how are you planning to seperate yourself from the rest of the A/V crowd?

I like the setup too.
Just wondering about the different spacings on the left hand margin? Some topics start right up against the side and others are indented. Some are ever indented farther than others.

Right now the board is setup to indent replys up to 5 level. This also means that you can reply to a post anywhere in the thread and your reply will end up connected to that specific post. You can see the structure of the posts when you click the show thread tree button in the top left corner.
It is possible to run this board as a flat board with all posts ending up at the end of the thread but until we get enough complaints about the current setup we'll keep it as is...

You guys have done a terrific job of putting together this site. It looks awesome IMO. I see that the A/V Chalet has exploded with activity. I really like the " View The original Thread you are replying to!" feature. There really are some nice touches that are incorporated into this site. Looks like I picked the right site to work and post at.

I really like the feature where you login in and when you post your username and password are automatically applied when you post a topic or reply. Funny thing though is when I go to edit my post I still have to manually enter my username and password.

Another thing I have noticed is that when I go to edit one of my posts that include quotation marks, the quotation marks are turned into '& #34;'.

Yes, Edit Profile has been done that way for security issues... Just to make sure it's you who edit your profile and nobody else... Now this feature isn't fully done since the Username and Password is picked up from the cookie setting in your browser and by just clicking the button you are in... will see how we will do with that feature further on.

Concerning the " characters. They are unfortunately converted into this garbage to avoid problem in the database we are using. The problem with these signs is that they kind of truncate the input text and the system thinks that your text is finished where the first " is and messes up everything... Hopefully we will find a solution for this problem too soon so all text will be editable the way it was entered from the begining.
I myself is so used to this bug/feature that I allways use the Bold CFB code instead without thinking about it, But I will try to fix another workaround for this behaviour in the database engine.

Great support Mats, Thanks! For those of you that do not know, I have known Mats for about 4 years. We always talked of doing something like this together, and we finally made it a reality, and I am d**n proud to be here. See those astericks, my buddy did that! lol.

Ken, thanks. From one Sonus faber fan to another, I am extremely glad you decided to join us. If you take off all that gobbley goop off the URL window except www.htguide.com, I think you will see one thing that seperates us from the pack. As of tonight, over 800 unique URLs of theater and audio video related links, at your beckon call. Call it sort of an A/V Library built right into the software. That's pretty special I think. Also, we will be adding new sites all the time, so look for the number to shoot up in the not to distant future! I added 10-15 since yesterday.

Many times, I go to the site myself, and verify that the catagories the site shows up in are accurate. ALL SITESare not necessarily under just one catagory. In fact, over the last week, I went through each link and catagorized it according to how I thought it should have been catagorized. Not many places give you that kind of lookup capability

As far as the forum, right now, our immediate task is to add more members, get onto search engines, and begin to select the moderating crew, as I have already done. With 2 GREAT additions I might add So, eventually, if I had to say one thing that is going to set us apart, its the tremendous bredth of knowledge that will be present among our staff at the site, not to mention our member base.

Already, for example, we have a very qualified 2 channel guy. We have great Pronto expertise, the guide, a little Lexicon, proceed, and Sf knowledge, and 50 great guys to get things rolling. Not to mention the fantastic technical support of Mats!

So, things are looking pretty special here to me, right now. So hang around guys, as we get things rolling, this place will become better all the time.

As far as contests, I would like to get some things rollng in this area, but these things take time. Right now, the site startup has kept Mats and me very busy.

Looks like CFB code can now be incorporated in our bios. A great feature to have, to say the least. I would like to recommend that " Describe your Home Theater:" be changed to " Describe your system(s):" . Some of us have seperate music and HT systems.

Great setup Lex! I too really like the mouse-over trick on the topics. Only thing is the timeout on the window is too early. I mouse over the topic, and it dissapears before I finish reading it ...........
