General request to membership

Guys I think it would definalty be helpful to the people responding to your posts if we knew what gear you had. With that in mind can I request that you all take a minute and fill in the details in your member profile. Help us help you

I'd go so far as to suggest it should be a requirement form membership. Not for new members, perhaps, but once we get to the 100 post level or so it should be a requirement.

What do you think?

We're keeping Mats pretty busy, huh?

Silly acually I think it should be a requirement for all new members. First its a lot easier to catch them on the way in and second it would make answerng the newbi questions easier.

I think SiliGoose's system should be considered a Home Gaming Theater; considering his video game systems outnumber all other components

Now that CFB codes can be incorporated in the bios, I would like to suggest putting a URL link (e.g. [ url=... ]) in the bios that either shows a picture of the particular gear or points to the webpage that describes the particular gear being used. This way everyone can see what each person is using as well providing some useful information about the gear. If you want to see an example take a look at my bio.

I give you guys a forum without a lot of rules, and who is the first one trying to make rules? you guys! lol.

I think for now, we won't require it, but it's great to suggest members do it. As soon as I have time, I will try and put something together. But it will take some time, lol.

Thanks guys for your huge interest and involvement in not only the fun stuff, but also your willingness to help members to help themselves.

I think Andrew nearly said it right. Like in Jerry McGuire. No, not show me the money! But the one that goes:

Help Me Help You!

Hi Lex, nice to see another HT forum for us to visit. Good idea of listing system in the member profile. I recall when this was put in people's signature, it was taking up too much room at the Home Theater Forum. This is a good place for this.

Thanks Marty for coming to the clubhouse We are glad to have ya!

Yes, space is not as much a consideration, but I have also heard of members complaining because if they do a search on a particular piece of gear, they get a mixed up search if several people have that piece of gear in their signature. That's probably the best reason of all not to do it. But I don't think we will worry to much about that until it becomes a concern. Unless some of you feel differently.

Thanks,
Lex

A simple question can be answered if the " describe your HT" is filled out. There's nothing worst than for a member to ask a question, and if his/her profile was filled out, the question could be answered. Way too many times have folks responded back to ask the post(er) what type spks do you have etc. etc, and never a reply is made. Let's fill this out in the beginning.

by Lex
It has come to my attention, that we have a few inactive moderators, of which Aussie Geoff is one of them.

I would like to see if there's someone that would like to join our moderator team, that has lots of BMW experience. (Sorry fraudian slip with BMW there, should be BW!!!)

Chris,

Although your request goes somewhat beyond of what I normally share in the public forum, I’ll bite…a little.

I have a graduate degree in EE and undergraduate in Applied Physics. I went to school in Boston in the mid 80’s. I worked for a number of years for the...

by kevinp.
Hi all, I'd like to try the L12 in a small 2 way monitor and would appreciate any feedback. I found an old post by Zaph from a little over a year ago stating he was using this driver in a small 2 way, but I guess it didn't meet his qualifications well enough to post the design. I figure it'd have to...

The below was posted at TechTalk earlier today, however there are a bunch of really super smart guys here and I'd love for your input too. I've got big ideas and tend to get carried away pretty easily, but today I think I finally settled down, recognized my limitations and lack of experience, and settled...

Avalanche 18 in sonotube or dipole sub array?
by thadman
The idea of building line arrays has intrigued me for a while and lately ive been doing a lot of research on them.

I have the option to use 16 RS125s per side in a dipole (24" baffle) line array alignment with a single RS390HF on the bottom.

Here is the scenario, I...
