    Lex,
I'm DYING to get in the house and build the HT. Since 1066s are going fast I figured I better get one while I can. I'm kind of living through you guys for a while until I get all setup again.

    Thanks

Leg man, go ahead, use us, that's what we are here for. Say, you like that nickname?

It will be worth it, once you get in that house!

        Lex,
Leg man 8) . I like the sound of that. Especially when I consider some of the things I've been called in the past. :W

I'm brand new here but I'd have to say my Aerial speakers are my pride and joy. I am currently in the market for a pre/pro and this is the most frustrating thing I've tried to research. It seems that everything I try is missing something or has somthing I'm not comfortable with. The only one I was really happy with so far was the Theta CasablancaII but the price (13k) is insane. So that's where I'm at.

Ken, what Aerials do you have? I have a soft spot for the Aerials. Had I the means, the 10Ts would have been mine, but I just couldn't swing that much.

Ahh, the pre-pro delimma. I suggest reviewing our former club posts, and Club Integra, maybe Harman. Then posting your thoughts, what you need, and lets go from there!

              Welcome to the forum Ken!

Thanks Lex, I have LR5s, CC5, SR3s, and two SW12s. I almost got the 10ts but I have some placement issues and Mike Kelly suggested the LR series just as it was coming out. I really love the set up, even compared to some much more expensive speakers that some of my friends have. The pre/pro thing is driving me nuts. I have no doubt that digital connections for both audio and video are close which will be important. I liked the Integra but don't like the fixed crossover. Love the sound of the Theta but as mentioned their dacs and the price are very extreme. Some days I'm tempted to buy an Outlaw or Rotel and just wait it out, other days I tell myself to find something I like and stop worrying about tomorrow. That said this is the most pressing problem I currently have meaning life is good Thanks for the welcome.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought "how strange." Unless you designed or built a piece of gear yourself, why would you be proud of it? Are you proud because you earned enough income to make the purchase? Does the purchase of a particular piece of equipment illustrate to the world your incredibly refined taste or keen powers of discernment? I can understand getting a lot of joy and entertainment from a piece of a/v equipment. And reading thru some of the responses to this thread, it seems that is what a lot of you are expressing. But I can not get my head around the concept of being proud of a piece of audio equipment. Must be a guy thing

Ok, for Ellen, let's change that to "what component are you most "Pleased" with in your system". Proud pleased, happy, all the same to a guy. LOL.

Ken, hmm, any pictures of these Aerial Jems?

Sorry Lex, no pictures. This is embarrassing as I own a decent computer, scanner, etc. but have no idea how they work. Next time my son is over I'll ask him to "load" a couple of pictures. I am a licensed builder, own a sales agency, but have zero knowledge of computers, sad isn't it.

Ellen come on, don't you have any pride of ownership? I am a manufacturers representative in the cabinet industry. I constantly have homeowners tell me to come to their homes and take pictures. I even heard of one couple who had a party just to show off their new kitchen. Heck on of our friends purchased a Lexus for his wife and she shows if off like a first born. Pride of ownership is the only reason I can think of that would make people spend 10K for a Rolex watch, they don't even keep time very well.

Anyway, maybe it is the fact that after all these years I can afford my gear. I'm not sure why but yes I'm proud of it, I guess I'm very shallow, but I love it

Guess I'd have to say I'm most pleased with my Dynaudio speakers, in beautiful natural cherry.

I started my speaker search in 1996 and spent more than a year researching and auditioning (B&W, Theil, Audio Physic, Paradigm).

I ended up selecting Dynaudio Contour 2.8 towers for mains. These are 2-way + passive radiator and 1st order crossovers and no longer in production. The Contour 2.8 uses the same Esotar tweeter as the Confidence series.

To me these speakers are so good, I simply have had no desire to change/upgrade/or even listen to any other speakers for the last 5 years. I do listen 90/10 to music/HT. My favorite tunes are jazz and female vocals.

I added the Contour center, the Contour 1.1 mini-monoitors for surrounds and an M&K MX-700 sub.

For me the pride comes from this. For years, I couldn't afford to many nice things. Now, I live a little better, and am able to buy things that in the past, I couldn't. That makes me proud to be able to own a piece of gear. I guess it's all in how you define pride really. I love my Sf speakers. I just get a good feeling every time I look at them and even touch them, and having substantial cash in them, yeah, that makes me proud to own them.

Pride in ownership is washing and waxing your car, then admiring it, rubbing your hand over it and saying, ahh, that sure is nice! I love this car!

It's not like seeing your child perform in a school function. It's a different kind of proud.

Interesting the way you did the quote Larry. Maybe the difference is just in the person as to how they look at it.

I'll put a few comments for some of my gear. Can't really just pick one... In no particular order.

                                1) Sony TA-E9000ES with rev 2.01. I hate Sony. But I have to admit, every time I turn this on, I question my desire to get an Outlaw 950.

                                2) Pioneer Elite DV-05. $1000 list. I got my refurb for $300. Kind of cheaply made, but I like the performance.

                                3) Tascam DA-40 DAT deck. They go for close to $1000 (street) new. I got mine for $450 on ebay. Less than 200 hrs on it. I had a Sony PCM-R300 that I absolutely loved, but it was a 3 motor deck. I wanted to "upgrade". Tried the Sony consumer ZA5ES. Piece of junk. Tried the pro R500. Same transport as the ZA5ES. Tried the Tascam. I'm a happy camper.

                                4) Nakamichi CR-7A cassette deck. Argueably, one of the best decks ever made.

                                5) Equi=Tech 2Q balanced power unit. Monster Power? Huh?

                                6) Vandersteen 2Ce Signatures. Just replaced Def Tech BP-30's. I think I finally know what music is supposed to sound like now. No knock on the Def Techs; I've had different models for 10 yrs, but there is something to be said for time aligned, phase correct, direct radiators.

I've long asked the same question. I'm am somewhat proud of this, however, given my paucity of skill (second project down).

My pride and joy is the old pair of Infinity RS-2.5 speakers that I've had for the last 20 years. Made when Art Nudel was in charge these have the Watkins dual drive woofer with 2 EMIM mids and 2 EMIT tweeters per side. I upgraded the caps a few years ago, and had the woofer's surrounds replaced 5 years ago - and they have a clarity and sound that is phenomal. Of course they do need a lot of clean power, and the amp needs to be able to drive their low impedance of 1.7 ohms without a problem.

Which leads me to the other part of the system that I feel is pretty special - a New York Audio Labs Moscode 600A power amp. This is a hybrid amp with tube drivers and voltage regulators, and Mosfet output stage. Rated for 300 WPC RMS into 8 ohms, it delivers over 450 WPC into 4 ohms, and it's sorta famous for it's transparency and power. I found it used about 10 years ago. It pairs perfectly with the Infinity speakers. At least I like it..

                                        Hi Alan,

Welcome to HTGuide! That's a VERY nice combo you have working there. A good friend introduced me to the Infinity's when he purchased a pair of (I think) the RS-2's back in about 1980. They were the ones that had the curved front face. Damn, what sound they made!

Guess you heard that Gizmo left us a few months ago.

                                          Hello,

I have had a crush on Sonus Faber for a while now and need some help. A while back, I demoed the Sonus Faber Toy monitors when I was looking for a bookshelf speaker. I went with B&W 685s and have never stopped thinking about the Sonus Fabers. I feel that I may have made a mistake....

I'm a bottom line up-front guy so I'll open with this: It's sinful that these speakers are going to the surround position in my HT. I have about 26 hours of listening with the new Concertinos in the front position. It's safe to say that if there was any breaking in to be done, it's there; but I'll get...

                                          Hello,
I have been reading the forum for awhile now and I am finally looking to take the plunge and buy a new system. I will admit, I am not very knowledgeable on many aspects and I appreciate the insightful comments made by the members here.

I was all set to purchase B&W 803,...

                                          Hello all,

I'm considering the Sonus Faber Concertino Domus, either with a rotel or NAD amp. Anyone have any experience or opinions of these speakers? I'm trying to decide between the B&W 705 and the Sonus Faber.

                                          thanks,

                                          Andrew

Hi, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I'm considering buying the Sonus Faber Domus Concertino (bookshelf) and am trying to decide on the am set up to use. The two rotel options I've considered are:

                                          - RC1070 and RB1070 (or even the RB1050, will I notice the difference...
