What component are you most proud of in your system and...

What component, piece, or accessory item would you want to add/replace next? Come on guys, upgrades is what we live for, let's talk about em! Sure, we've done this a 100 times before, here and elsewhere. But times change, equipment changes, let's do it again!

Right now, I am most proud of my Sonus faber Grand Piano mains, and my Rega Jupiter CD player. If I had to pick one, I think my love for the Grand Pianos never really fades. Of course, to me, that holds true for all my Sf speakers. Timeless beauty, each works of art in their own way.

Myself? I can dream a little here. Well, over the last 5 years I guess, I have developed a system that many would likely kill or maim for. Proud of that? Damn right I am. But does the desire to strive for improvement ever end, regardless of the level your system has attained? I don't think so. Myself, I would love to upgrade the brains of my home theater someday. But as priorities go, I am not sure that's most important.

Therefore, what I have my eye on next, if that can happen, I don't know that it can, is

Sonus faber Cremona mains Wow, I saw these beauties, and instantly fell in love. Finally, Amati Hommage styling, at a price that mere mortals can at least dream of owning! Owning these is a dream at present. But also, the dream has some validity. Someday, I will be in the cable business full time with a dedicated location for my business. At least that's the plan. When that will happen, I don't know. But I do know one thing, this business will have a listening/testing room, and to start out, wouldn't it be nice to have a pair of Sonus fabers laying around to get rolling with? I firmly believe the statement that I will never sell a Sonus faber speaker. Simply, they will migrate to other areas of the home/business.

Audio wise I can't think of anything that I would want to change or upgrade. I finally got the room acoustics right, can't beleive how easy that actually was to do. The Theta gear and the Vandersteen speakers seemed to be made for each other.
Video wise I would like to change everything. Just waiting for HD broadcasting to settle down, and for DLP projectors to come down a little more in price. My DaViD ll should still do the job as a DVD transport and we will have to see what the HD delivery system will be, hopefully a disc.

My favorite piece is my Pioneer Pro Elite 610 RPTV. The two upgrades I most want are a progressive-scan DVD - a Panny RP-91 or a Yamaha DVD-S1200 - and a turntable - a Rega P3 or a Music Hall MMF-7.

hmm since my HT is in a current state of flux its a difficult question to answer. I guess I have come to realize that I really enjoy the maggie sound so I guess I'm quite proud of my all maggie setup but on the other hand I'd love to upgrade the mains to the the 1.6's or even better a set of true ribbons. Video wise I'd love to go projection but for now the Sony 7700 and the 50" RPTV are doing me well.

The item I was most proud of was the Sonosub that I built since it was a lot of work and sounded fantastic. I sold that though (which was hard to do) so hopefully the new IB will live up to expectations

I guess that leaves the only other DIY project I have on the go as my most prized possesion...my house and more specifically the new dedicated media room

I don’t have a favorite piece in my system. It’s the whole system that I like. As far as upgrades I am currently upgrading the video side. After that my wife wants me to get smaller speakers. The speaker upgrade will not happen for many years unless my wife really pushes. I like my audio side pretty well at this point.

Well, digital video projectors just keep getting better and better, so I find myself being pulled in this direction for my next upgrade. But prices are coming down while the product gets better, so I am in no rush as long as my current projectors keep on running.

I have to pick only one!? Probably the piece I'm most proud of is my tank of a DVD/SACD player, the Sony DVP-S9000ES. At over 25 pounds, it's a work of art. You'd have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands.

I'm not about to upgrade my speakers either. My Platinums are sweet (and irreplaceable, as the company went out of business!) I just love 'em! I'd love to hear Maggies someday, but if I fall in love with those I'd have to build a dedicated 2-channel system and put the Maggies in there if I ever get a set.

As for what I'd upgrade next, probably my receiver (Outlaw 1050), to separates (Outlaw 950 + 770 amp or something similar). But not until after I upgrade the house!

My favorite is my 27TX receiver. It allows me connect my LD player without an outboard modulator. It allows hookup of my Turntable without an external preamp. I love what it does for the sound it produces for HT with THX processing and music (in Direct Mode). And the remote controls everything with ease.

Upgrades: Widescreen HDTV (probably a 47"). Also a prog scan dvd player.

When I finally get them built, it will be my speakers. 7 MTM 2-ways, Orca Designs Aria5A with Focal Mids and Accuton tweeters. Front 3 actively XOed with a 10" woofer.

Right now it's probably the Magnepan MMGs that are standing in.

Love to get a good CD player/DAC. The Pioneer DVD jukebox is OK, but certainly not up to the rest of the (eventual) system.

Well, I'm very happy with the Tag McLaren AV32R-EX Pre/pro..........the product has been great the upgrade path is second to none and great customer service

Also, the Cinepro 6ch amps another that will stay for quite awhile.

I was very sad to find out yesterday of the passing of the President of Cinepro, Eric Abraham. He was a great guy that was pleasure to talk to and communicate with via e-mail. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. He was one of the good one's and will be missed.

The next upgrade will be to VMPS "RM 40's" and a "LRC" center channel. I have ordered them and should be here by the 20th of May.

Well I'm kinda like Bob, I'm very happy with my system as of now. I say the piece of equipment that has made the most significant difference is the BFD but my favorite piece is my Velodyne HGS-15 Subwoofer. What a sub! Truly awesome.

My pride and joy is my Panny RP91. Everything in my HT will be upgraded, including a new home. I'll still use my Onkyo as pre-pro and add some good amplification. Will definately be going with Front Projection and also a RPTV for everyday use. Would love to hear the fabers one day before making my decision on speakers.

My favorite components vary from day to day, sometimes its my NHT 3.3 front speakers, or my Lexicon MC1 (but that is now gone), lately, its been my new Rogue Magnum 66 tube preamp :P

Probably my Waveform Mach 17s are my most prized possesions with my VPI Aries/JMW10/Transfiguration Temper Supreme a close second.

And amazingly enough I haven't upgraded any audio equipment in quite some time, I'm satisfied at this point. Video on the other hand I have been tweeking, recent addition of ordering a 52x92 Firehawk screen.

My Favorite peice has to be the Denon 5800,,which is currently on route to Ontario for the new Upgrade board to be installed.

Replacements would have to be the SVS subs as they have better models available now.

John, you have a beautiful and unusual home! It looks like you've put a lot of time and effort into it. You should be proud.

Thanks David, I wish I could take credit for the home but I am merely the current owner/caretaker. It is about 53 years old and made of materials that are difficult or expensive to come by today. With all the windows it makes it difficut to create a true home theater experience so compromises must be made.

Like others here It's pretty much my whole system I am proud of.
I dont think there is one piece I am most fond of.
My system has gone through a heap of changes in the past few years. In the past few months I have pretty much replaced my whole HT with exception of my Main, and center speakers.
The new system is a definate improvement over the last one.
The latest piece added was a new TV. I was definately suffering in that department. I had a 60" Hitachi RPTV that was in a slow state of demise. Two weeks ago I replaced it with a Toshiba 65hx81.

As of now the one piece that is in need of upgrading is my sub. Currently a Def Tech PF12tl. It does the job, but there is definate room for improvement.

You guys definitely have some nice gear.

My current favorite piece is my newest addition, McIntosh MC202. 200watts x 2, and has those nice blue meters. Makes me smile everytime I turn it on.

Hi Sam! Welcome to HT Guide. We always need more Texans around here! (kinda offset that Northern bunch a little)

John's right, you've got a pretty impressive piece of gear yourself. McIntosh just has that aura about it's equipment.

Where in Dallas are you? I grew up (Jr High and High school) in Rockwall. Spent lots of time in Garland and Plano too.

I'm not sure when I'll be allowed to upgrade again because I just got my silver Rotel RSP-1066 pre/pro. I would like to upgrade my speakers and my subs next probably. After that I'd like to upgrade my 61" TV to a projector. Man this is addictive and expensive ..

Sounds like a great amp! I used to have the Rotel RB-985, it was a good amp, though a little anemic at 100 watts for the Infinity Kappa 7.1s I was running at the time. They are hogs. Now, the 250 watt proceed, made them cook. The Kappas are in inventory, waiting for a chance to jump back in action someday. The Rotel is in a guy's system about 100 miles from here. Last I heard, he still loved it.

I should have qualified my choice. We just sold our house and are waiting for the new house to be finished next month. All my gear is at my mother's house, so I haven't had a chance to use my 1066 yet. So the 1095 amp is still my favorite.

My guess is that the 1095 will still be my favorite because it has given my system new life. No more listener fatigue high volumes, it took the edge off my speakers and took the bass and just changed the way the notes use to linger. Now the bass is really tight. I can't say I hear thing I never heard before, but things are more pronounced. I imagine all the pre/pro in the world isn't going to give me ALL those things, but I could be wrong. I'll know after I really get to use it though.

I'm not one of those guys who thinks that every new piece is the piece that transformed his system. The 1066 has some steep competition in my house from my 1095 amp. It's going to take a lot to take the crown from the 1095 in my house.

A while back, I demoed the Sonus Faber Toy monitors when I was looking for a bookshelf speaker. I went with B&W 685s and have never stopped thinking about the Sonus Fabers. I feel that I may have made a mistake....
