I took a peek at the link, although I didn't read every detail, Thomas. I didn't see a link to a petition, though. Are you talking about posting a comment below the story?

Meh. Let the RIAA affiliated stations suffer. It will just drive more people to non RIAA music.

I doubt that there's enough non-RIAA music to sustain a viable business model.

Well, I'll put it on the list of things to do after I rule the world, but it won't be the first. I've got a few other things in mind for that.

                            signed no.25459

This same thing happened around 2002 or 2003--no? The RIAA tried to exact per listener fee from internet radio; the same thing I'm reading now.
I remember folowing it when blogging was very new. It failed, thankfully. Those RIAA folks are frozen in time with their $15 CD's and supergroups. I had a friend who worked at the Library of Congress, which held meetings with the RIAA concerning Copyright Law. He told me one summer aftenoon that these folk believe that when you and I rip a CD we buy to our HD, they feel we owe them a new fee for the ripped copy! :E
If you have the interest, here's a link to a piece on a congressman who actually defended some of the things that benefit music that the Evil Org is trying to squelch...

My hope is that between technology, the artists, and inventive entrepreneurs, and the buying public, that this once valuable but now hurtful bunch become a historic footnote.
