    What's your next upgrade?

I have decided to jump onto the SVS Ultra Sub as my next HT purchase.

Anybody else getting the itch again.?

Trev: I'm saving up for a new 6.1 processor for my HT room. I'm leaning towards the Outlaw 950 (if it checks out) or I just might get a receiver that has EX/ES and just preout the amp section since I have the amps for the job....we'll see. The beauty is I have time to wait, watch, read, demo, etc...because my house won't be ready for a bit....

Then I'll be upgrading my low-end, probably SVS, and then a new Prog/dvd player. Possibly those new Kenwood's with the Faroudja chips....I like that 400 disc unit!

Phew...that should cover me for a while.

It should be a widescreen HD RPTV. But since I'm more of an audio guy, it may end up being a new processor.

well it was supposed to be a new pre amp but it might end up being a DVD player given the recent demise of my A320

Casablanca is in the shop right now becoming a Casablanca II.

After that, maybe next year a FP.

I have so many things needing "fixin" that we're having a hard time figuring which one to jump on first..I KNOW I need to upgrade the 32" TV....but the HD issues make me wanna wait for a HD TV....but I have been thinking about getting a standard RPTV since the prices are so low now..We also want a sofa with built-in recliners and yesterday found some leather ones marked WAY down because the economy here sucketh mightily...but THEN we discovered that earlier in the week the lightening hit the hottub and fried the entire panel, and of course it's 6 months out of warranty.

Seems something major always comes along to grab my HT money...

I'm giving some thought to the dlp technology, but prices here in Canada are far to high right now. When the time is ripe, I'll jump. For now, my old crt and my Sony VPL400 are doing just fine.

                Sad Sue-
You can always convert the hot tub to a cold tub, what with all the hot weather this summer, it could be quite refreshing.

Next upgrade is the couch. I've got my eye on a reclining leather unit as well. Hope to place the order on Friday.

Would love to upgrade to a RPTV, have had my eye on the 53" from Toshiba and Sony. But I think that will wait.

The recliner by Clark with built in transducers. Can always turn up the volume or even use SilverCat I/C & use it as a massager.

                        My Visa? LOL.

Actually, it's way past time for Lex to cool his jets. no upgrades in the forseable future except a well placed CAT Cables or two. But that's ok, I love my system, especially the boss new CP-35 2 channel processor and Lovan low rise stand.

                          Next upgrade. Hmmm.

Sure would be nice to have a pojector in the living room again. Don't know how likely that is, though.

Then there's the amp I heard on vacation, which the designer/proprietor will give me an accomodation on, since we've known each other for decades- he used to work for me, and I've done some work for him.

But on the otherhand, I sure would like to "upgrade" my bedroom speakers; I have a design project started, and almost all the parts bought- two alternative approaches will be developed, one based around Focal and Quart drivers, the other around a custom 6-1/2 and Quart drivers. Think Wilson "Cub", and you've got the basic idea, packaging wise. Hear Avalon Eclipse, and you've got the tone target.

But there's also a subwoofer cabinet to build, for another AS-15.

I suspect I'm in the same boat as Siligoose and Lex- I need an upgrade to my income first! And since I'm caught in the High Tech "slump" like many of my brethern in the Bay area, in actuality what I'm getting this fall is a downgrade.

But life goes on... and I got in all the transistors and other goodies I ordered last week (parts is parts is cheap compared with nice shiny assembled equipment), and I've started working on a new mod project- to upgrade the guts of a lot of black boxes ThomasW and I have. This is a little bit of a stretch, but I think the key concepts are valid and very doable.

And there's a concept I'm looking at for a new tweeter and crossover for the X1's.

Plus a Klone of a Klassic- classic Avalon three way speaker.

I don't think I'm going to get a lot of sleep in the next twelve months!

Now we just need to dig this thread up once a quarter for the next year and see what progress we've all made on our dreams.

                          Regards,

                          Jon

Well, my audio lust got the better of me, and a new amp is on order, ETA early October. Something a little exotic... but which I've already listened to at length. More when feedback when it arrives. Hint: it doesn't use feedback.

Well, today I decided, with the heat and all, to kep the hot tub cool until October and go ahead and get the leather reclining loveseat...it's been eating at me ever since I saw it last Thursday. The guy marked it down $500 to move it , and I obliged him. :=) I am totally destroying my den and re-doing it a la home theater..but, woops, that's for another section..you'll just have to skip over to Spaced out for that saga.

A good chair is a VERY significant upgrade to the HT or audio experience. I've had my eye on a new scandinavian recliner for sometime, but there always seems to be something else that get's the bucks first!

I thought I posted to this thread already, it must've been on a different forum.

Ya know, I don't know what I'll upgrade next. My system is pretty stable right now, certainly no major upgrades planned right now. I just put the MD deck and a Monster surge protector in. I'll probably replace some of my cheapo and Monster interconnects with CatCables next.

If I were going to do a major upgrade in the near term, it would probably be (if it is as good as I hope) an Outlaw 950 pre-pro and 770 amp combo, with SilverCats hooking 'em together! :B But, like several others have posted, I would need to upgrade my income first!

Oh yeah, I would get a laptop too!

I've been trying to figure out how to sell a bunch of my stuff and reconfigure, but I can't get the cash part to work out... Really want to try an all maggie ht setup after playing with the mmgs. If I could get the 3.6s for mains, I could scratch my 2ch setup for awhile.

What does anyone think about letting go of the lex mc1 for a tag32? I figure I could just about do it even (or close) if I wait for the right buyer...

Oh well, maybe we'll see bonuses again in the second half of the decade.

                                                Dang, Bing,

Have you figured out how much money is sitting in that room!?!

                                                It makes my stomach hurt!

Guess that's why I'm a DIY guy- could never afford "real" X1'SLAMMs.

                                                Have a great weekend.

I thought this might be the system you got that image from- I read about him a year ago.

Thanks for including the info about the Wilson XS sub- Hey, what a great justification I can use to my girl friend and daughter for why I need to build up a couple of Aerial Stryke-15 subwoofers to go with my SLAMM Klones! :B

That would balance the upgrade I want to do on the tweeter, with a new Accuton model. (Sick, sick, SICK!)

"Hello, my name is Jon Marsh, and I'm a DIY abuser."

Now, for about someone who *REALLY* has a DIY problem, talking to ThomasW the other day, he's orderd a pair of Blueprint 15" drivers, and hopes to Klone (roughly) the Krell Sub. That is one sick man. He's going to own more subs and more different types of subs than anyone else on the planet by the end of this year, I think!

                                                          Regards,

Note he has 6-18" drivers mounted in a total of 3 enclosures

There are two ways to make boxes. Make the box resonance higher or lower than the operating frequencies of the woofer.

With Marine/Apple/Baltic ply, the resonance is higher if the construction is right
