My wife is the "computer person" I have very limited computer knowledge or skills for that matter. However, I have learned that MS was in court for a valid reason.

        There's ways around everything.

I've been reading up on WinXP and I've seen nothing but speculation that it may contain some of the ingredients mentioned in this article. No one seems to have solid facts just yet.

My understanding is that this all ties in with Microsoft's initiatives for creating "trusted clients" for all kinds of digital media, including software. They've bought several companies that are in the business of Application Servers, and apparently a large part of their .NET strategy is moving the world over to pay per use software and media, with licensing controls that strongly limit the usuage to a specific system. How specific? Installing a new hard disk on my main desktop, using Drive Copy to copy to a new drive, is forcing re-registration of Office 2000. A lot of these measures are already here but not fully employed in ME; they're very much here with Office.

          Regards,

          Jon

Personally, I am still trying to get over Win2K, one peripheral at a time, and to venture to yet another new platform? Thanks, but no thanks! :B

Win2K has caused me numerous pain with devices from Printer to digital camera. I have gradually overcome most hurdles with this system. Sometimes, by buying another piece. But I am there! So, again, PASS!
