    Tympani Acoustic speakers?

Has anyone auditioned speakers from Tympani Acoustics? I am curious about this new upstart Canadian speaker manufacturer. I read about this company from visiting the Audioshop website under "New Stuff" http://www.audioshop.on.ca

Based on what I have seen at the website, they appear to be very price oriented. For example, a 15 inch sub (with 350W amp) on sale for CDN$650 (~US$430). List is CDN$1100 (~US$725). That's by far the cheapest 15 inch sub that I have come across. Now, do you get what you pay for or is it a loss leader in order to get some exposure?!?! One thing that has me questioning this sub is it's dimensions....something like 17"x16"x16"....how can you put a 15 inch driver in an enclosure this small? Wouldn't the least dimension be at least a couple inches larger than the driver size (to account for the enclosure material thicknessx2)?

Does anyone from Ottawa or elsewhere have some free time to take a look and/or a demo? If so, please post any experiences with this company's products. Thanks.

hmm while it might be possible to get a 15" driver in that box without major amplification to over come the ineffiecencys it wouldn't sound very good. Given the price its selling at I don't know how they're able to give it the kind of power it would need (like the little sunfire's) and keep it at that price. I'd love to see some reviews of their speakers though

Design Acoustic's 3way of days gone by..
      by kgveteran
Does anyone remember the three-way speaker by design acoustic ? It was a square box, about 14" square. The front had a soft dome tweeter and a four inch mid-woofer.The unique feature was a down firing 6.5" woofer. The whole speaker sat on a flat base 14"x14" with enough room for the...

Does anyone amplify an electric or acoustic guitar through their B&W's
      by Jeff
I have an acoustical guitar. The body and texture of notes it produces is just beautiful. Frankly, I wish my N802's sounded this good on redbook or SACD's. My acoustic guitar doesn't have a pick up. However, I'm considering purchasing one that does or perhaps an electric guitar. I've been in the...

      Acoustic Lens

An acoustic lens refers to a device or structure designed to manipulate the direction, dispersion, or focusing of sound waves. The term is inspired by the concept of optical lenses used in optics to manipulate light. The primary purpose of an acoustic lens is to modify the propagation characteristics of sound waves, enabling control over their distribution and spatial behavior. Acoustic lenses can be implemented in various forms, including physical structures, signal processing...

Acoustic foam gasketing for face of enclosure
      by SE-Raider
I know from various posts and tsts the advantages of flush mounting the tweeter and bass driver on the front face of the enclosure. For those without access to a router, is there anyone who makes a foam gasket material, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick that could be used to cover the front face of the enclosure,...

      Acoustic Phase

Acoustic phase is a concept used to describe the relationship in time between two or more sound waves at a specific point in space. It represents the relative timing or alignment of the crests and troughs of the sound waves as they propagate through the air. In simple terms, the phase of a sound wave indicates where it is in its cycle at a given moment. A sound wave is a repeating pattern of compressions (areas of higher pressure) and rarefactions (areas of lower pressure)...
