Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate place for my question or even in my question in itself is appropriate, but anyway here goes....

I came across a webstore (won't name yet) in the US that seems to be selling B&W and Rotel stuff at a ridiculously cheap price. Well, way cheaper than the cost in Ireland - in some cases 50% cheaper - bearing in mind that B&W operate a very tight control on prices over here on all their brands.

They appear to have a number of retail outlets in the south west....

I'm just wondering if this is the norm for costs ove there....

Example : pair of 800d's for $10k - that €8k in euros.... They retail closer to €18k here.

The same goes for all their models.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal US pricing. I never really though about this before, until I found this site. I'd be a little miffed if it was....

That's not normal prices for the 800ds, that's more towards normal for the 802Ds.

I bet a good chance too that they list the stuff and prices on their website, but you have to buy them in the store.

...it still seems way too low though for that price.

Yeah, they do.... That's standard enough tho'. Interestingly, the 802ds are priced at $6k. Something has to be amis. Maybe they're priced individually!

The 802D's MSRP is 12k$USD a pair (6k$ each) so I guess that explains everything...

However they are 17k$CAD up here and the exchange rate is only $1.14...

So you want to support this kind of illegal activity? They should be reported, they are taking extremely valuable customers from REAL dealers that have a shop & a family to feed.

Folks,

This is a dealer that has numerous stores in Texas and a few other states. They are definitely not selling Rotel or B&W on the cheap, except in the clearance center where they have store demos, second hand and older models at moderate to high discounts.
I purchased several items from this store and they are actually pretty strict when it comes to discounts on new gear, not really willing to go beyond 10-15%, certainly not 50%!!!
They do require the B&W and Rotel gear to be purchased in the store only.

In my dealings with The Home Theater Store at two of their Houston retail locations over the years, unusually LOW prices has not been something that I would have accused them of. :>)
