I wish that I didn't already have Comcast...Direct tv has much more to offer,at lower prices.

I bought a new car a few months ago,it came with a free trial period of XM radio.
Needless to say,I am hooked on it....and would love to have it in my home.

H.Donald, your XM is available at home on your computer that can be connected through a line-out jack if you have one. I use it this way and it isn't as nice as a dedicated piece like the dish or a stand alone tuner, it works pretty well and it is free to those with and existing XM account.

It's just a short way of spelling DirecTV .

SO is XM radio the Bomb diggity? I have just launched a trial of the internet version on Windows Media player and it's nice to hear genre based programming.

I think this would be a nice option in the car as you're touring around, able to listen a random mix of music that is surprising yet memorable.

I have a subscription and I certainly enjoy it. I also have D*TV, and now I'm wondering if the audio will sound compressed, hopefully not.

                Regards,

                  Azeke,

I was referring to the astericks by the channels. Some of the channels have one and two astericks. I was simply wondering what these meant.

ekkoville...I listen online at home, but no way I can get it to my whole house system without extra charge.Unless I switch over to Direct....which as much as I enjoy it in the car it might be worth it.

By the way, last year when the Yankees were up 3-0...I told you being in N.H. you were flying the wrong flag.Well, good news for you...since the big series is coming up this weekend,we will be allowing a few to jump on the bandwagon before it starts...interested??

That's great news! Dish does the Sirius thing so I guess it would be fitting that Directv does the XM thing.

Bing... I've had XM in my vehicles since they started and yes it is the BOM! All of the music channels are commercial free and they rotate a extremely wide range of songs for each genre.

One thing I like about XM is you can get one main service and then get up to 4 more subs for only 7 bucks per month. I signed up my main service for 5 years way back and the renewed it for another 5 years like a year or two later and it was only $8.50 per month then. But $84 a year for those other 4 subs is a good deal. We've got XM in all vehicles, at home, in my mom's car... and with each one of those you can have it on your computer for free.

H.Donald, even now with the season deadlocked and the opportunity looks good for the bandwagon, I must gracefully decline to grab hold. Too many roots embedded to just cut ties.....that would be selling out.

Another great thing about XM...you can listen to the Yankees or Red Sox no matter where you are.

Thanks Sonnie :T my main interest would be to have XM radio for the vehicles. An Ipod with 3,000 plus songs is great too, but predictable after a while. Hopefully an XM radio would not be for some time.

So do you wire the XM radio module into the car, or by a dedicated unit?

Most radio's come XM ready and you purchase two modules... one is the XM receiver that connects power and XM antenna while the other is a manufacturer specific adapter for the brand name radio and your car. The kit cost about 80-100 bucks.

You can also get an XM receiver with a commander and not use a tradition headunit or you can get the Delphi or Roady unit and use a kit to tune in a choice of FM stations. XM plays through your factory FM radio, but it does not have the quality of the direct wired headunits and kits.

I'm a gonna have to look into this some more... Check it's service availablity in my area.

I think XM is the provider up here over Sirrus

You have a few options, just to summarize in order of listening pleasure:

                                    1) Hardwire
                                    2) Casette
                                    3) FM Modulation

                                    Just my quick thoughts,
