    disecting cinima rooms

have you ever been in a cinima theater (your local theaters ) and while waiting for the movie to start found your self stairing at all the speakers in the room what speakers they use .. what about the lighting and then looked up and to the back where a window or some times three are shining ...and in mid movie craved to walk to the screen to see where the hell is the center speaker located
i do all the time ... i get a lovely smile on my face when i see those 12 or more JBLs hanging all around me ....i think life is Good

On occasion, before the previews start, I've gone up and looked at the wall fabrics and screens before. Glad I'm not the only one.

Yup...as well as walking into friends homes and thinking hmm this would be a nice HT room...I'd put the speakers there and the projector screen over there...

Aha, Andrew, so I'm not the only one! If only my friends knew the thoughts I have of their homes.

As for theaters, yeah, I do that too. That's one of the reasons I built my home theater like it is, with a perforated screen and hiding all speakers behind the front screen wall and fabriced columns so it's a very clean install.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

If you drop by my "work" place I will be happy to let you stroll around behind the projection screen and actually *touch* our JBL speakers!

If you guys are ever in the Kansas City area I would be more than happy to take you on a tour of a movie theatre and show you how it all works.

This is such a funny thread. I can't help but always examine the movie theaters, check out what kind of speakers, how are they placed, how are they positioned, everything. And ESPECIALLY when I go to a friend's house and think, this room would be great for HT. And then try to get them into this audio world. Or some friends that have the HT-in-a-box, I'll tell them to try positioning their speakers in a certain way because it would give them a better effect/feel.

This is so funny... great stuff amadeo.
