    Joann's Fabrics Foam Question

    Hey,

Im looking at buying high density urethane foam from Joann's Fabrics as sound dampening material. I know I need open cell foam, would this stuff be right to use?

You’re seeing this message because some of your behavior on the site looked a little odd. To continue on through the site, help us verify that you’re a real person.

    Thanks

As long as you can blow through it, it's open cell and OK to use in speakers. However, I clicked the link and it looks awful pricey to me. I think Foam by Mail is much cheaper.

The material in the store is way cheaper. It's only like $6 a square yard.

        Acustic Foam

Hi there, I'm looking to source locally (Mexico) some foam and found a place in Mexico City that specializes in acoustic projects and products www.comaudi.com.

They carry eggcrate and triangular foam. The spec sheet says that it is polyurethane open cell foam with a density of 2 pounds...

        Fabrics for Room Treatments
        by CupCak3
How important are the fabric properties for room treatments? The treatments I’ll be fabricating will be for first reflections and bass traps. After searching around for acoustically transparent fabrics, they seem to be very pricey and most of them are not wife approved (the ones which she does like...

        Accuton Cell Tweeters

        Hi,

I'm looking at doing a compact floorstanding two way with Accuton drivers. I'm curious about the sound difference and performance difference between the Cell tweeters and the older style tweeters? Also, does anyone know if they can be sourced with the old fashioned faceplate like...

Using craft foam sheets for box damping
        by fjhuerta
        Hi all,

I was wondering how to damp a vented box - the proper way.

Buying acoustic foam from Parts Express is prohibitively expensive due to shipping costs.

I'm allergic to fiberglass, and I haven't found carpet padding the thickness I need anywhere.

        Hello,

I started to build the Amigas from Paul Carmody
        https://sites.google.com/site/undefinition/diy/amiga

        He says in instructions:

That was pretty clear until I realised that the cabinet is so narrow. The internal width of the cabinet is...
