    Soekris dac2541

Wow! "Boney M" ---> "BBBoney MMM".

This Danish audio elektronics (Soekris dac2541) produces BOOM and reveals more space, gives deeper listening into the recording (area) & exposes more details than the Chord MOJO dac (that I was used to).

Last week I saw the offer on the website of Soekris.dk:
"We're doing a special offer on the dac2541 for our European customers, for a limited time only, get one dac2541 for just EUR 1100.... Only valid for shipping directly from the factory to Europe."

As I had been following the developments for years, and now had the money, I took the plunge & ordered 2 machines.

No regrets this far. If I had to grade my audio investments over the years (starting at 15yo): this is the BEST investment I have ever done; next to QUAD ESL63pro :-)

This was the first DAC I bought 2 years ago. I've been very pleased with the sound and performance. I use XLR to the amp and AES from the source which is a Raspberry Pi with the Pi to AES card. I have Moodle installed on the Pi. JonMarsh had suggested this DAC to me to start with, and its' been fantastic.

Glad to hear you are happy, but not at all surprised. My older version (1541) is for the basic living room system (with Ardent D's and a Cambridge Edge W amplifier). The fundamental high resolution R2R ladder approach is (IMO) fundamentally superior to delta-sigma DAC's in most cases, both sonically and on my Audio Precision APx555 analyzer. (Wife doesn't like the big speaker projects I'm working on, and the high end system is going into a separate room).

Congrats on the Quads; used to sell their ESL's back in the 70's in a high end shop I was a partner in. (particularly for the Levinson HQD system).

While testing out streaming through a windows computer with Roon Bridge tonight I was trying to find some information on the Soekris 2541 IR location and stumbled on a forum that was discussing the 2541. I noticed many posters stating the path of the stream was Roon --> PI2AES --> AES --> DAC...

There is an intro thread about the DAC-s here but as this has 'on the bench' content also I thought I'll start a thread here too. At one point when the forces will allow I'm sure Jon will chime in with AP measurements of his cad1101 as well.... will be interesting to check if they match in end.

This is one of those tests and write ups I've ben wanting to get around to for some time, but there always seems to be something more immediately urgent to distract me from the effort. Well, there still are those things, but I figured it's time to get this done because I'm...

Just ordered; should be in by Monday. These are just starting to become available in the US. I've been looking for something with above average performance but not over $2K, unlike my last two DACs, which while quite satisfactory from a performance perspective, are rather pricey for most of my friends....

This is a repeat of sorts, because I had this setup working years and years ago when I lived in Livermore, for my bedroom system- and now I wanted to set this up again. Of course, you can never go home, and sometimes things quite working... like the iPad 1 I used in it!

          The motivation...
