analog to digital converter

just got a schiit JIL to rip some of my LP's.
why would i want to do that, you ask.

fist of all, convenience
Second, many of my LP's do not exist in digital format
third, preservation.
every time an LP is played, it is worn a slight amount.

i hope to have a report on this schiit JIL in a week or two.

gonna try two ripping software apps:

audacity & vinylstudio



eventually i will get the PS Audio unit, but it is a bit spendy, so still saving up

Nice piece of gear. I've ripped some of my vinyl to digital for the same reasons, convenience (to play on my phone, car etc.) and reduce wear and tear on the vinyl.

I've used my Bellari USB phono preamp to rip some albums, but for some reason it worked better under Linux than in Windows. In Windows, it only gave me mono rips for some reason. I ended up using my Prosonus USB mixer to rip vinyl to my Windows laptop. Hey, I have it and it works, and doesn't sound bad either, especially since it rips to 96/24 or something like that.

I used Audacity in all cases.

But a dedicated audiophile ADC is probably best for most vinyl rippers.

i also built a low-noise power converter to with the schiit instead of the standard wall wart.

I have a weak spot for anything with tubes, hence the Bellari.
