    NAD goes NCORE

NAD has released a new power amplifier based on NCORE technology, though they haven't identified which one- as the web site says it's using the latest, I would presume that means it's NCORE 1200 derived.

Connect to the emotion of live performance through detailed sound, with both amazing control and transparency. While it is easy to find amplifiers that can excel in one or two areas, the M22 is an amplifier that truly does everything well. Wide open-loop bandwidth, extremely low-phase shift, almost non-existent noise,

Just what we need- more toys I can't afford! Of course it's a switching supply, but according to NAD, one with some voltage and power headroom, hence higher IHF ratings than RMS- 355/ch 8 ohms versus 250W.

Ben, this NAD may be for you.... :W

That....is now something that I want. Yeah it must be the NC1200 which is also rated at 350W @ 8ohms using their SMPS 1200. While I've already collected some parts for my little hypex build the price is inline with what a stereo pair of NC400s would run with all the details and a high end case (3k). I guess less power but may sound better? If my sheet metal guy in Winnipeg keeps dragging his feet maybe I'll get one of these guys.

The M17 in this series really has my attention. I need to upgrade my ancient HK receiver at some point and this may fit the bill after a price drop. 2 year toy budget is: ardent xover-hypex amp-big TV-sports car-prepro.

I have the M17 and the mch nCore amp, the M27, in for review. They look even better than the pix.

Looking forward to your impression! No HDMI 2.0 at launch though, that's a little odd

Edit: Just saw that they are offering a free upgrade on the HDMI module when the technology has matured a bit. That's a nice touch.

Yes, it is... I think NAD has been hitting on a lot of cylinders the last few years, with the Mastersound series and it's less expensive components, like the M51 (still my recommended budget DAC, of course!)

I may have to crack my piggy bank for one of the M22's to try with the Isiris and the Ardents. Of course, I DO have all the bits to build my mono blocks, so that had better come first. Still, this is an interesting development.

We'll be watching for your review and comments, Kal.

These are in stock now and shipping quickly at Crutchfield. Have to give that some thought after getting back from my road trip to Seattle the end of the month.

Interesting summary of some of the best stuff at RMAF this year from Stereophile

Some nice words for the PSB + NAD room, powered by the M22 NCORE amplifier and the M12 digital preamp.

Quite a few other interesting highlights- once again, my work schedule prevented my attendance at this show, due to this special customer project. Check out the Stereophile article. Coverage included the fine folks at Madisound and their driver offerings for the DIY market-
