    Surge and Battery Backup

    As I just posted in the Audio forum, I'm new here. Been doing a lot of reading, but haven't come across my exact question.

    I've got the following equipment in my humble HT:
    Toshiba 36" CRT TV
    DirecTivo
    DirecTV Receiver
    Kenwood VR-507 Receiver (500W + Sub)
    Panasonic DVD
    Kenwood CD Changer (circa 1989)
    Kenwood Dual Tape Deck (circa 1989)
    Powered Subwoofer
    5 channel Sound
    VCR
    HTPC (soon to be added)

    What level of Surge and Battery protection would you recommend. I know I should have something for the Tivo and HTPC for battery, but should I get 1 piece of equipment for everything? I figure the TV wont be on battery, but should definitely have good surge protection.

    I don't believe the monster hype, so no need to unsell me on their equipment. I'm looking to find the right equipment that serves me today and possibly the near future.

      Well depending on budget I'd get a smart-UPS system for the PC that protects from surges and will safely shut down the PC in the event of power failure. For the rest of the system there's about a million options... Anywhere from $50 surge protectors to thousands of dollars for huge power unitshttp://www.richardgrayspowercompany....cts/index.html .           Or you could regenerate power as shown in this link http://www.audiorevolution.com/equip/psaudio/index.html. But this does cost as much as a good amp so beware...

          Unless you have really dirty power or live in an area with known surges (like lightning in FL or AZ), or are an extreme "phile then the basic surge protectors are probably good enough.

              The APC smart UPS is a good recommendation for the HTPC (or any PC).

                      I dont have one at this time so i'm asking if anyone could advise me between 2 units the Belkin PureAv PT31 or the Panamax 5100.Both of these units are in my price range.I'm currently using a strip surge protector.Would like to benefit from a good unit.FWIW i do sometimes get momentary power surges...
