Which amp would you recommend?

:?: I am currently looking to purchase an amp and am considering the Rotel RMB-1095 (5x200) for around $1900. What other amps would you suggest w/ roughly the same capabilities and for roughly the same price? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Chris,

In that price and power range, the Rotel is a very good choice; another possibility might be something used from Bryston or Aragon if you came across a good deal. The Rotel is well built, tilting the scales at about 75 lb; an Aragon 8008X5 is over 100... which could be considered a drawback, but then iron and copper and aluminum aren't light! Since Acurus is gone, that recommendation doesn't exist anymore. And the higher rez amps I can think of are in substantially higher price ranges.

I too have to second the used search. Proceed, HPA-2, for somewhere between 2-2.5. Mine has truly been an awesome amp. Well worth what I paid for it. You might even find an HPA-3 with a spare channel for not much more.
