    DTS vs Dolby 5.1

    Ok guys, which is better? DTS seems to have better bass extension....

    My stuff:
    Samsung 61" DLP Rear Proj
    Samsung B/R
    Sony B/R
    2- JBL 10" subs w/240 W Mono Block
    Yahmaha Rec'vr 7.1
    DIY mains, center and satelites (Morel tweet/ Audax 6.5")

    Theoretically DTS.

    In practice, it depends on the movie/mix.
    There are some things which are impossible to know, but it is impossible to know which things these are. :scratchhead:

      Yes, it depends upon how that particular DVD was mastered. In my own experience, I found that DTS would, more often than not, give a better performance, so I would always choose DTS when available.

      Now that we have HD audio tracks, I have not found DD+ to be generally better or worse than DTS-HD. Similarly, I have not found any difference between DTS-MA, Dolby TrueHD, and PCM Lossless.

        DD is also very good, depending on the quality of recording

          Yeah, it depends on things, but in general I don't hear much difference other, maybe , than in the bass extension.
