    Sub crossover with prosound amps?

For the last few years I've been using a Marantz SR4600 and Paradigm Cinema 110 speaker package, but I'm planning on getting into some DIY speakers and subwoofer with some pro-sound amplification down the road.

Compared to most people, I'm sure my system goals would be considered to be in the budget catagory and bang-for-the-buck is important. After doing some looking around I'm thinking of using one or two MJ-18's and some QSC RMX series amps. I'm building a pair of Zaph's BAMTM for a friend and I'll see how I like them before I turn them over to him.

For subwoofer systems, what do people usually use as a crossover? Based on what I can find in the manual for my receiver, it doesn't have a variable crossover point for the subwoofer preout. Do higher-end receivers often have variable crossover points, or do most people use external components?

The SR4600 has crossover settings for sub output. Looks like the choices are 80, 100, or 120Hz. It's in the speaker size setup menu in the "LPF/HPF" settings.

If all else fails, RTFM. It's in there, but not very clearly indicated. Look in the menu flowcharts on or around pg. 16...
There are some things which are impossible to know, but it is impossible to know which things these are. :scratchhead:

      ops: Wow. You're handy.

That's better than I thought it had, but is that one adjustment all that most of you use for the transition from speaker to subwoofer? The nice thing about the plate amp on the little sub I have is that it has a variable low pass crossover on it that opens up the options a bit.

Generally, if you use the bass managment in the receiver, the sub's low pass filter should be bypassed/disabled (if that's an option on yours) or set to the highest value.

          Subwoofer settings with RSX-1067
          by gstellenberg
Stumbled across this forum a couple of weeks ago after upgrading from a Denon 3802 to an RSX-1067. Thanks for creating such a fabulous resource on Rotel equipment. I've read through many of the past threads concerning the 1067 and subs but still have some questions.

          I have the RSX-1067,...

How does this subwoofer plan sound?
          by JonW
I’m going to build a sub for my office. I’ve read lots of threads on subs so I think I know what I want to do. But I’ll make this post to check and see if anyone thinks I should do anything differently.

          The system:

          Hey-
I have a cabling question for everyone... I have a Rogue 66 pre-amp that has 2 sets of outputs. One set is for my Acurus A200 to power my main speakers. I'd like to use the 2nd set to hookup a powered sub. The 2nd pair can be set as active or passive (I guess i should set it to active so...

Question on Subwoofer Db Levels 1055
          by Jsapp
I have set the sub levels on my 1055 on the Test tone screen at -3db (just a little HOT for HT)

There is a Subwoofer setup screen where you can set crossover AND set Sub levels for 2 CH, Pro logic DTs etc. If I set stero to -2db is that ADDED to the setting I did in the test tones. IE...
