    Multi DVD Players

I am considering a second DVD player (I have BD and am considering adding HD)...

As i started thinking about wiring I went ahead and ordered the HDMI cable but forgot about the audio side. I have a Denon 2800, and currently run 6 channel audio into it from the BD player. If I get another DVD player what should I use for the audio into the Denon? I have TOSLink and digital coax available.

I see lots of comentary on video connections (HDMI, better than Component, etc) But I don't think that I have ever seen the same comparison for audio connections. Any advice on the rundown of audio connections?

    TIA

There are many schools of the thought on this debate. I prefer Digital Coax merely for the fact it has a lesser tendency towards damage. I had a Toslink cable attached but not only did the connection seem loose, but I also damaged the opening and therefore the connection became unusable. However, I have found no discernable audio difference between the two when watching movies (via a DVD player), which is the only comparison I have made.

However, if you are going to listen via stereo mode, there are some that still believe analog cables are your best bet. My guess and one of the factors to consider is how good are the DACs in your receiver/pre-pro. I've heard some digital modes in different equpment, some sound very nice i.e. Logic7 (Lexicon), DPL Music PLIIx (Rotel), others reproduce what I consider synthetic sound, i.e. Arena, Stadium, etc.

Your personal taste are really matters, so you will need to listen to a configured system and go through the modes. I personally like seven channel stereo mode, stereo, DPL Music PLIIx, and DPL DD IIx modes, but not everyone shares my taste. These are just my humble thoughts, your acoustical mileage may vary.

Merry Christmas, Peace and blessings for the New Year,

      Hi,

DPL IIx is about to ship for the RSP-1098, RSP-1068 and RSX-1067 (hopefully this weekend). However It has been frustrating for many of us waiting for DPL IIx with the will they or wont they rumours and misinformation. Indeed, in some other forums there have been some quite angry threads

Can 1068 output digital audio to Zone 2?
      by Pez
In other words, lets say I use only a digital coax cable from DVD player to 1068. If I want to listen to a CD (using the DVD player) in another room using the zone 2 feature can it handle this? I know some pre/pro's and recievers can only output analog audio connections to a second zone but cant remember...

RSP-1068: No DPL II Setting for 5.1 System?
      by HAL_9000
I recently bought the RSP-1068 for my 5.1 system, and I’m confused by the Surround format options. Specifically there appears to be no Dolby PL II (PLII) option.

I’ve been going through the Input Setup configuration menus to choose the Default (surround) Mode. I want to...
