    velodyne audio cable/good enough?

Hi guys, waiting for delivery of Velodyne DD15 sub(this week) and wondering if the supplied audio cable is up to scratch or should I be investing in an aftermarket cable.
Also looking at replacing the pre-outs to amps and new speaker cables for when the B&W 803Ds & HTM2D arrive(early next year delivery).
Have looked at Cat Cables site and they look pretty good but as we know its not all about looks. It would be nice to support a sponsor.
The more I look at different cable sites the more confused I get. I'm sure their all good quality but prices vary so much. How much do you spend.

For a sub I doubt your going to notice much unless you get a nice shielded cable. Especially if its a longer run. So I would suggest getting one of Doug's shielded subwoofer cables. His price on his sub cables is super cheap too! 45 bucks for a 2 meter cable is great! Thats copper of course but I doubt you need anything more then that for a sub.

To take what the previous poster said a little further consider this:

A recently completed study by a well known speaker manufacturer concluded that we humans are unable to detect distortion as high as 10 percent (yes,10) in the bass frequencies.

I do believe there are times when cables can make a difference. Unless the stock one is woefully inadequate (doubtful on a DD15), the power cord on a sub
is not a reasonable place to expect any perceptible gain.

        Thanks for feedback guys.
Seeing delivery is only days away i'll do initial hookup with supplied cable, i'm assuming there is one, says audio cable in downloaded manual and then source aftermarket cable after some good listening sessions. As you say Dougie085 $45 is super cheap.
An spl test may highlight some gain.

After reading the previous posts in this string and other areas of this forum, it is interesting how there are so many "Experts" in our hobby that we love. Is it fancy advertising by manufacturers with thier "White papers", electronics people with their theories, formulas and laws or is it all "Snake oil" and we think we hear or see something better/different. For my sub (B&W ASW 600), which is not top of the line but very accurate to test on, I started with a regular Monster 300, which was good. I then went to a $70. Belden shielded cable that was better/different. I then went on EBay and for $100. picked up an Audioquest Sub 1 cable. To my ears, it sounded tighter, faster with better transients. Now did it sound better because I have other Audioquest products and I wanted to hear differences or it sounded better because in the manufacturers ads it has the "Stuff" in it so it will sound better. As noted above, in that we can only hear distortion at 10% in bass frequencies, could that mean that with my other two cables the distortion may have been that high and with the newer one it was in fact more accurate and I was now hearing better bass but less distortion. I am not argueing the point with any "Expert", but it gets very confusing for us consumers spending hard our earned money. My morning rant.

            B&W 703 and Velodyne DD15 setup
            by lazime
            Hi,

Does anyone using B&W with Velodyne? Do you customize Velodyne crossover frequency?

My setup using B&W 703, Velodyne DD15, Marantz SR18. Marantz does not say anything about its own LFE crossover frequency.

            Thanks

Order placed for Krell & Velodyne
            by ShadowZA
Well, decision time is over and I've placed my upgrade order with my supplier. It has been quite a time of decision-making. Tougher than before - waking at night - mind-changing swings. Now it's done. Here are the changes:

Processor: Krell Showcase - replacing the Rotel RSP-976

            Velodyne DD15 died
            by Linmuse
My 2 month old DD15 just up & quit on me.

One day its fine the next nothing.

No sound from any source even test tone, no on screen display, the velodyne sign lights up when power is on but doesn't flash when the remote is used.

            Had the shop send someone...

            Replaced Velodyne F1200 with a Velodyne DD10
            by urlawyer
My old Velodyne F1200 started rattling and would drop out a lot. Found that the edge had holes that caused the rattle but not the drop outs. Went out and bought a Velodyne DD10, cause the dealer gave me a great deal. I wanted a DD12 or a DD15 but they were beyond my price justification. Turns out...
