I've seen some conflicting advice on the use/positioning of a sound meter when dialing in your system. Some say position it looking straight ahead (from your listening position), others say aim it at the ceiling (from your listening position). What's the group's wisdom on this?

Front corner may be a bad choice of words. I'm not aiming at a 'corner', rather striaght ahead / tilted upward.Originally posted by Kal RubinsonSince there was no smiley, I have to ask why you do this? I have never heard of this choice.

I've found straight ahead leaves the rears a little low, while straight up just doesn't sound mixed right.

I've always used straight up and I see that as the recommendation by most applications unless one is doing speaker, rather than room, EQ.

What I have seen written in many places is for the meter to be pointed up, with a slight forward tilt. This is what I use.
Matter of fact, I just found a picture of how I positioned my calibration gear in my previous room.
It's from this thread here: http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthread.php4?t=18352

by tboooeWow! I heard that b&w were sensitive to speaker position but I did not realize just how sensitive. Tonight I was listening to my dm601s3 in my bedroom and i heard a definite bias of the sound towards the left speaker, something I never noticed before. At first I thought I it was the song but...-

by TommyI had the 805S for more than 2 years now. They are great little speakers. :T
Now I'm trying to get the most out of them by tweaking their position. How do you guys position your 805S? I have them about 16 inches from the back wall and toe-in so the tweeters cross at about 2 feet behind me....-

by sikonikoMy dealer is offering me a good price on an htm2, which ironically is the same one I ordered before I changed my mind and went w/ the htm1. I am seriously considering it for my room to create a 6.1 setup. The problem is finding a place to mount it. My options are as follows:
1. Find some...-
