    PS3 and HDMI

    Current set up

PS3 (connected to receiver via HDMI approx 9 ft)
Receiver Pioneer VSX-84TXSi (connected to projector via 40 ft HDMI)
    Projector Sony Pearl

I am experiencing intermittent signal failure for the image and the sound. Regular DVD's, PS3 games work just fine, only BluRAy discs trigger the problem.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Any thoughts on solutions?

    Cheers

    Kush

Hmmm, I seem to remember reading about this somewhere, I believe it had something to do with the PS3 firmware ver 1.7, don't quote me on this however. There is a new update ver 1.92 dated September 4, 2007, I would try it first. I think the updates are cumlative.

If the update doesn't work, I would contact Sony/Pioneer tech support (which may or may not include Tier 2 support). Also, try hooking the PS3 directly to the Projector to see if the video remains stable. You should also try another cable on the receiver to eliminate that as the issue. Just my quick thoughts.

    Peace and blessings,

thanks for the response. i tried the PS3 direct to the projector and the picture works. Tried changing the HDMI connection from PS3 to receiver and the problem persists.

      cheers

        Hello Kush,

I think it's relative to the Pioneer receiver. I would contact Pioneer tech support (800) 421-1404 for a firmware update, have your model and serial number handy. After research some models were having issues with LFE/HDMI and needed firmware updates. However, you will need to take it to an authorized service center for the update. Good luck and keep us posted.

        Peace and blessings,

How I've added HDMI 1.3 high bitrate audio decoding to my Parasound C1
          by Chris D
Quite a thread title, I guess. Perhaps I should subtitle it, "or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb... I mean, theater."

As the title says, I've added HDMI 1.3 audio decoding to my home theater, centered around the Parasound C1 home theater controller. As...

          Hi all,

I do enjoy my system but in very limited way.
I have Rotel 1560, PS3, Panasonic AE3000. My problem is that there is no menu/games picture from playstation. Bluray disks are played fine @1080p but once I stop it - bang! only blue screen of projector. I tried to hook up...

          PS3 and 5200es
          by laneza01
So I recently added a set of surround speakers to my receiver to (sorta) compliment my Klipsch rf-83's and SVS sub until i can afford the matching Klipsch. This gives me a 4.1 setup, which is fine with my receiver. I have it selected 4.1 and it does what it does just fine...HOWEVER, if you are not familiar...

Idea for headphone use with PS3 !!??
          by madmac
I send my PS3 audio signal to my Rotel using an optical cable. I quickly learned that these digital connections and the sound that the receiver decodes from them will not be transferred to the analog tape outs of the unit so I could hook my headphone amp to it. The PS3 of course does not have analog...

          Which settings for PS3?
          by renpar61
I have a PS3 connected to RSX-1057 via toslink audio (the HDMI goes straight to the TV, since the 1057 doesn't process HDMI audio). Which settings should I use on the PS3 and on the receiver to take advantage of the best audio decoding?
