Hi, spend most of my time over on the DIY forum, but I would like to upgrade my reciever. I have a Onkyo HT-R500 or something like that, and it really seems to lack. I was just wondering what some of you reccomend for brands that are good. I thought Onkyo was good but maybe I just got a bad one or something. Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo, any clear favorites? Ive located a decent Yamaha but dont know much about Yamaha stuff. Thanks.

Hi Sprint
You need to give us a little more info.
What is your budget?
I assume your doing HT 5.1?
Do you some type of base management for a sub?
Are your speakers high impedance, <4ohom?
There's lots of good stuff out there on the used market, too, at places like audiogon.com.- Bottom

Well for now I would really like to keep it in the less then 500 dollar range. For now 5.1 and will likley upgrade when the new formats get a little more solid. I have a DIY Dayton HF with a Dayton 240 w plate amp and right now my speakers are 8 ohm Polk Audio, but I will likely soon upgrade in the next year or two.- Bottom
