Right now you'd probably be best off buying (or keeping) a player for DVD-A/SACD and getting a PS3 IMO. As far as I know there are no HD-DVD or BD players that play both SACD and DVD-A.

I will say this. Denon is supposed to announce their HD intentions as early as July. If you want a player to player DVDA/SACD and an HD format (or both) it may be worth waiting ot hear what they have to say.

cool, that is good news indeed. Denon is a name I respect and have always enjoyed their commitment to quality. They're not the first to market a new product but sometimes the first to market a good version of someone elses abortion. :B If they release a player for less than $500. WITH 6 channel analog out and plays both HD-DVD and BR I will be buying it.

Don't get your hopes up. I can guarentee you IF (big if) they release a combo unit it will not cost 500 dollars  Even the new Panasonic combo unit thats coming out is more then 500. A combo Denon I would say would be at least 1000.

Something you may want to consider is noise. My Xbox360 is loud when it plays DVDs - so much so that I got a separate player. I don't know whether the add-on HD-DVD is noisy, or what the noise level of the PS3 happens to be when playing a disc.

The add on drive for the 360 is not very noisy at all. I use it on my HTPC and its not too noisy at all to be honest. The 360 it self is quite noisy though.

                      I love that idea.
I have 3 Denon players on my rack now, and wouldnt mind adding a "almost all in one" from them. I would willingly pay for it too.

                        Right then.

With the imminent release of the SSP-800 processor with the new dts and Dolby HD sound decoding etc (eventually), what do you think the chances of Classe releasing a player that can play all these formats:

                        HD DVD
                        Blu-Ray
                        SACD

Is the PS3 an excellent SACD/Blu Ray player?
                        by thadman
My local walmart has 1 PS3 80gb left which includes 10 free in-store blu ray movies along with 5 free mail-order blu-rays. Pretty amazing deal if you ask me.

The problem is I already own an Xbox 360, and it doesn't look like PS3 will be coming out with any exclusive titles (other than...

                        Hi,

I've been running a 1056 with a 7.1 speaker setup for a couple of years now, and started watching Blu-Ray movies from a PS3 80GB model last year. The PS3 is connected to the 1056 with digital coax and component.

Since my current setup is limited to 5.1 and 6.1, both...

                        Blu-Ray being released

Well, I think we're inside a month away from Blu-Ray being released. I was just surfing at Amazon, and saw that they're having an interesting promotion, where you can get 10% off Blu-Ray for the next year. Note the wording that they use on getting "high-def" DVD's on sale for a year....
